My understanding it that the world produces enough food to feed all of the inhabitants.
It is a distribution and political issues which cause the food shortage. Not to stray into politics but time and time again I see in the news that political factions fighting in third world countries disrupt red cross food distribution to the oppressed people. N. Korea is another classical example of why there are food shortages.
This is the source of famine to a great degree, not spending money on CERN or Space exploration.

How much effect has the movement had? I'm probably being naive, it seems to me it's fine until something goes wrong or when it comes to dealing with the waste, both of which appear to be very real, badly thought out hazards.
LOTS of smart people around to work on that. The movement includes plenty of scientific folks highly funded by the fossil fuel companies (including some with fake/highly inflated credentials).
I guess the biggest hazard both in generation and storage of waste is earthquake......lots of smart people in Japan, I still think it's risky.......but maybe worth the risk
Smells like eco terrorist speech. Human demand for energy is increasing, how do you think that will be satisfied ?

I had a thought you might like to follow. The Flat Earth is hard to disprove. Creation verses Evolution is easier. Using Boolean logic only the NOT gate gives the answer most seem to prefer. Think on the this. A NOT gate is a device and must be created so it proves all things are created which is logically correct. What can not be infered is what that thing is that created it, I call it Willfulness. It exists in either primitive or advanced science.
Evolution is just a process and always asks what was the cause. However non thinking or genius in stature it is the question. It is not a truth that has no proof.
It is said the Vienna Circle had a member who would shout out M every time a subject went into areas where pure logic fails, Metaphysics. This became so frequent that Not M was shouted instead when they said something that pure logic could prove. If I say " All Englishmen are liars " it is a paradox because I am English ( one must be sure of that to maintain a paradox ). I don't think we can infer the Creation logic is a paradox. How we name that thing is up to us. Transient event is possibly the best anyone can do and attempt the truth.

The recent couple of years flared up FE movement is imo not what it looks like to be on the surface where the brightest to the dumbest are sucked in and challenged whether E* is round or flat.
More likely an alphabet soup agency psy-op meant to distract, creating infighting and busying people with nonsense and trivialities while much larger events are taking place on the world arena.
Then, there are also a few odds taking advantage of it, making up a history about a friend who needs a vacation for free, yeah... 😀

Today's launch of a SpaceX Falcon rocket was broadcast live on Youtube in HD. There were cameras on the ground and in both stages of the rockets streaming back live video.
As the rocket reached about 100 Km in altitude the horizon was rather curved in the background. They had video of the 1st stage flying back to a landing pad in Florida. It's amazing how they can fly that thing back to within a foot or two of the X on the ground from 100 Km up.

Put together a nice eyepiece projector for my scope for tomorrow. Still no answer on how the FE's explain away the exact eclipse path predicted by the rotating round earth. Some pretty complicated geometry?
EDIT - Found an FE comment that the eye safety warnings are part of the NASA plot so we don't see what is really going on. Downright irresponsible and dangerous.
