Having semisouth on hand but no 2sj74 I am thinking to build a J2 with mosfet input like aleph M alpeh 3 etc...
Is this feasible and what would-i leave on the table soundwise compared to a real J2 ?

The original Alephs used Mosfets, no reason why you can't pick from the wide choices available the days.

I searched for "Aleph revisited" thread, started by Pass - in all possible ways ( excluding pure manual search through threads, page by page), but I can't find it ......
maybe someone will chime in

fact: what I didn't save in my PC ( at least twice so I can grasp later how I Titled it) - it ...... isn't saved

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

I would have recommended 2SJ79, but also unobtanium. 😉

Just remember to use the Harris versions.thanks for all your replies!
so 9610 in J2 would not be so bad after all...

That does not apply to the 9610 ?
In any case, if you only use it as cascode device, then it does not matter so much.

almost 2€ for a 1W device... do you have a cheaper alternative?try with TP2640
got a pair kindly donated by Papa...
trying to get the best result for a small budget
I have already heat sinks and PSU toroids

in that case - just use what is most convenient for you, from whatever reason
in most cases, for still active parts - price of part is still much smaller than shipping involved
and you always need plenty of luck to get everything what you need from one Vendor, so shipping cost is diminished
so, 2E per part is ridiculously low, possibility and expenses to get it is much trickier part
I know - when going cheapskate route ( done that more than enough times) everything counts but - worth thinking about real value of project started - if all is needed to bring it to significantly higher level, then just prolong it ...... more time, lesser strain on brain and wallet

the 2x TP2640 have to be matched, so need to buy at least 50 pieces to find 2 matched pairs? meaning 65€ at tme.eu
or go to F8 topology to avoid the matched pair but I dont know if F8 with mosfet input could work?!
