please post the pic of your amp.....better you send back to PassLab , F7 isn't for all to setupYes that's what it looks like.
Bias is not difficult but restoring to original setting without a spectrum analyzer is not possible.Everything else I can restore to original.
Is it really illegal to photo and show nude amplifier-parts in far north Queensland???
Well. This is the world wide interwebs! I hereby give you the FULL autorisation to post nude amplifier pictures.
I’d take this dialogue directly with Papa through e-mail. His address is readily available publically.
WW does not sound like Papa’s recipe for an OS.
Yes, restore to original state. These are rare seldom output devices and a cool circuit.I’d take this dialogue directly with Papa through e-mail. His address is readily available publically.

Yes Sounds good I am just in a bit of a rush My friends short on time. I thought I could sort it out quick.I’d take this dialogue directly with Papa through e-mail. His address is readily available publically.

Yea I don't think I can fix it for him.Bias is not difficult but restoring to original setting without a spectrum analyzer is not possible.
Thank You I will. I have got it restored some more enough to show a quick snap with only 2 r6 resisters to be found or replaced and put back. I have been over every solder joint that was touched with solder wick. Only input and outputs are different. I'm starting to feel better about this beautiful thing. Iam shortly going to run it and see if settings and offsets look correct. I was hoping Mr Pass might have the original settings written down. I tried not to dilute the original stickers that can be seen. Why I haven't cleaned the chassis up fully yet.

I am not sure if its visible I removed the expensive aftermarket copper posts as they were at risk of shorting to the chassis..just awful. I put my usual brass terminal strips in as I like to use them on my tube amps they work and sound ok at least until I find the originals.
anyone that makes that amount of mess putting in some resistors needs to have their arms torn off, and beaten to death with those removed arms.
Ive seen people with Zero soldering experience do a way better job.

Did he hot snot resistors to the heat sink? Oh boy. Well at least you're fixing it.
You can use some isopropyl alcohol to clean a lot of the flux and other stuff up.
Take a look into this program:

If the bias is based on distortion characteristics, maybe this will help. I haven't looked into it very much myself but I understand some members here are using this to see distortion waveforms.

You need to settle down with your abuse he's a disabled man that's dying of cancer who spent his life treating people with cancer. It's a resistor! And I'm disabled too with only one fully functioning arm So I have some insight into the difficulties he has soldering. edit I had my right arm ripped off by a drunk driver, would you like to rip my good arm off or my bad arm? just curious.anyone that makes that amount of mess putting in some resistors needs to have their arms torn off, and beaten to death with those removed arms.

I'm sorry I didn't see these things in my crystal ball.
My comment still stands.
I know what my limits are.
When I reach them, I find someone that CAN do the job, to do it Properly.
I nursed my mother till her death of lung cancer.
I nursed my father to death from dementia. (Last year if your interested)
Several family relatives and good friends have died from various cancers.
Another has merkle cell and is on borrowed time.
And yet another has been poisoned (deliberately) with neuro toxins in an attempt to murder them.
Shall we continue to play this game ?
If you can't do something properly, without butchering it, Get help.
And just for **** n giggles.
I have many medical conditions myself that prevent me from doing a lot of the things i used too.
I take my own advice, and either get help, or employ others to do simple things that I no longer can.

It seems that on this particular occasion, sending the amp back to Nelson would probably be the best thing to do.
I think I understand what happened and why things turned out the way they did (with the amp).
Brain still thinks you could do wonders, but the harsh reality is a bitch.
Kudos for still trying and making an attempt to improve and modify, as well as for being able to understand and provide help when one needs it.

Hello,
here is a question on FirstWatt F7, mainly to understand. The F7 is used in a four active amps system. F7 is used for the bass. I use an active digital filter to split the channels. The interesting with the digital filter is you can set the delay. What I don't get is when the F7 is cold (just powered on) the time delay measure on the bass loudspeaker is around 231 Ft (7m) while after 3 hours the time delay measure drops to 165 ft (5m). Why is that ? Best

I want to apologise my friend passed and I had to leave it go for a while. I had a chance to talk to the person that was involved in the mods and he assured me the bias was never adjusted. Why my friend would want to modify it I do not know. I guess he always wanted to improves things. I have finished restoring the amp to as original as I could with only the one resistor changed. I love the amp I Am listening to it currently. It's a privilege to have such an amp. Most of my hifi is made from recycled parts. Its seems very happy with my 10 inch 8 ohm richard allan wide range speakers I have. I would like to build another one soon. Perhaps a design I can bias easier if I have too from a diyaudio store kit. I don't want to run this one 12 hours a day like I do with my amps. Its seems too special for that. I don't want to dry it out. Thank you Nelsen and group for your help.
