ok this is my first pj so no flaming me please!

i think i have done ok with this design giving me an approx 65" image from about 13 feet away in 4:3 resolution

the case is made from 9mm mdf,
the light surround is made from an old cd drive casing,
all lenses are from exclusiv-online,
the lamp is 250w hqi ,
the screen is a psone screen with the brightness mod and red pass mod,
the screen is a blackout roller blind,
the caseis covered in black fablon with plastic edging and is light tight except for the intake fan at the bottom and exhaust fan at the back.

the image is very good for movies but for gaming the colours stand out a little to much for my liking and would like to know how to resolve this!

i have included pics but due to being such a newbie i dont know if they will work! if not then any help to resolve this would be much appreciated!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

comments please and i will answer any questions, post new pics and would like constructive criticism (remembering that im a total newbie)

p.s.
my camera doesnt quite do it justice, it is much clearer in real life!

looks very nice

I suggest that you do something to protect your controller board from direct exposure to all the light (and heat) from the lamp. Either move it to the left, or add a metal shield between it and the lamp. It will not run long if you overheat it.

i know i should really make some sort of shield (sort of planning one at the moment)
ive actually run it for between 3 1/2 to 4 hours without it overheating!

as for controller board position, im very limited with the sony psone as it is only possible to mount it where it is!

exclusiv are in my opinion the best for lenses in the uk in respect of price and delivery costs! just dont put any faith in the reflector they send you, mine has gone completely see-thru.. and you may have to wait a little longer for your delivery. (mine was a couple of weeks late)

the yellow dot is a fault in the camera itself, not the lcd ( my camera occasionaly places the dot and sometimes red and blue dots too!)

ok the ps1 lcd was from ebay £35 inc postage but if you are wanting to go the 5" lcd way then get a decent one, not sony!
its ok but no colour controls, theyre too bright and in your face for gaming!

as for posting plans and parts, i will be setting up a page with rough guides, measurements and parts with tolal costs which may come in handy for uk diy'ers who like me may find it hard to find good parts without paying over the odds to get them shipped......

will post better pics of results as soon as i get camera set up properly...

watch this space...........................

Nice job mate congrats 🙂

Im not sure if you have a PC hooked to your PJ or not i see an XBox there... if indeed you have hooked it too a PC you can use a program called Powerstrip to adjust your colours and anything else video related for that matter

Aside from that I have no input for adjusting colours know little to nothing about the PS1 screens

nah! no pc unfortunately, i would do but the vga mod is a little out of my league at the moment

if i could use powerstrip through composite then i suppose i would get hold of a micro pc motherboard and incorporate it into my pj

i think i have set my cam up better now so if anyone would like to see results from specific xbox games or movies, just let me know and ill post them...

does anyone know whats best to clean marks off lcd screens cause if u look at the pic of tealc with the staff weapon, on the very left is a smudge where i touched it after handling glue and i dont want to scrape the lcd by scrubbing it off.........

p.s.

i forgot to put the total cost in my first post..........£230 inc postage on parts

mine is good brightness as long as the rooms dim.
as i have said, i have done the brightness mod on the lcd which i think roughly doubles the amount of light that is allowed through.

games gan be funny though, some being to bright in places such as farcry instincts which is unplayable on my setup, but some games such as mx unleashed are perfect.

movies really shine, just watched "basic" and even with the dark night scenes all is clear!

what screen u using gizmo?

Oh and about the "brightness mod"

I did it to my screen and the differences were quite dramatic.

Before I had the brightness turned all the way up and dark scenes were still way to dark. After I had to turn the brightness down to 1/3 the former level and dark scenes are perfect now.
