Hi!
I want to put all of you into a delicate situation. To choose from Fertin 20s or Supravox 215s bicone. All 8"drivers.
I want you to come with more details about these two superdrivers, compare them, frecvency response, linearity and sound and finally a note from 0 to 5.

Well, I must say I am pretty intersted in this discusion too...
I am thinking at the same thing for a while, and I guess that Fertin would better the bicones in the upper frequencies (just because I know that wizzer cones are not that good)...
But again, maybe you should tell what cabinet are you going to use for them...for example I was thinking at an open baffle (wich nevertheless qualefies both of them because of the Qts..)

sorry, my mistake. I was thinking at another driver (the 165 from Supravox). The Fertin has a wizzer cone too. Back to the place we've started ...
Yes!
An OB I was thinking me to,but also on a Voigt or ML TQWT.
I have same opinion about the whizzer but seems Fertin is best in highs and sparkle, detail over Supravox.
Maybe he isn't?

Blackforest Audio have modified Fertins with higher Qts and different whizzer. The "Helix to Heaven" once got a very good test in a German magazine. They probably didn`t make this with the frequency response of the standard version you can see at Spectrumaudio. Maybe you can get FR graphs from Mr. Kühn.

I bought a pair of Fertins (20EX with all upgrades) in December, but didn't have time to install them yet. When I do, I will certainly post some comments.
They certainly know how to package them properly:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Given the fact they have large quantities of gold on them, do you think these will be at their best playing the Electric Light Orchestra's Mr Blue Sky? 😉
Peter Daniel!
Do you think that improvements adds something new on the driver?
Do you listen Supravox,to compare them?

I have no idea if it adds any improvement, I was gambling here.
Never listened to Supravox either.
Never listened to Supravox either.
I will mount them in a wall separating two rooms.
Most of the people I've heard about, use Fertins in open baffle.

As user of 215 bicone in OB I can recommend it ,very very good Driver higher Q, than Fertins so more suitable for OB. Fertins specs seems to have littlebit
better values in FS etc... but lower Q Never heard Fertins it might be better but more expensive .

Supertweeter not necessary. If its still mounted crossing frequenzy would be quite high 12-15k
215 Bicone shows quite clearly whatkind of Amp and source
you have for signal. My 300b needed quite fixation to get best results ,on Bias ,PSU caps Retification etc ..Igot these solved .
Im still using my proto OB baffle and next step is to finalize it.
But still Fertin might do this also and maybe better.

Hi Peter -- Any comments yet on the Fertins? As a fellow owner, I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

If everything goes well, I might be able to install them this weekend.
It's been 4 months now, they are still in a box, but I was very busy recently with amps building.

I'm quite intersted about your feedback. Could you also tell what other (fullrange) drivers/cabinets are you used with?...just as a comparison...

Florin

open baffle
good morning all
I have these 2 supravox bicone 93db. I have tried these in a qwtp and blh. It is hard to describe why; but these drivers have been gathering dust for some time.
I will give them another go, this time on open baffle. The qts. are .8 so from what I have read, this should work well.
I am constraining the baffle size because of my room-13'x14' to 24" x 36" approx.
It will be a 6 corner baffle using the "edge" open baffle design program. The baffle is a bit unusual with the driver placed close to an edge.
Should be fun with minimum expense.
cheers
