Favorite Drivers at every price point and WHY?

I meant the Faital 12PR320 has also a great low end for the price. I would like to hear what Tony Gee is making with it and the Faital HF coax compression.

He is making those Calpamos for so long that i really don't believe it exists anymore. It has become a legend. I am working on a two way with 12pr320 but i think i've opted for a better driver/waveguide combo 🙂

No one that i know has it and i've never seen it, let alone listened to it. I've kept the list made of transducers that i've worked with - but there are much more out there that look superb and would very much like to own them 🙂

Yes, without a doubt. But not because something is better done/manufactured/engineered per se. Rather because it is specialized for the work it has to do. LS50 uses a midwoofer and R3 uses pure midrange in their dual concentric. I've managed to obtain the new R series dual concentric.

Got it. I see the different surround for the midrange. Is this new driver the one that comes in the r3 and is it significantly different from the driver in the old r300?
Sorry to pepper you with so many questions but I'm very interested in building something with the kef drivers.

Oh i understand the passion 🙂

It is the new R3/5/7/11 driver. I see no other change from the outside but the suspension. Now, R300 midrange had an anomaly at 1100Hz, not large but it was there. I think that it yielded suspension redesign.

About the things we don't see, this one utilises T shaped yoke and it has dealth with cavities between tweeter and midrange to get smoother response. I'm not sure it can be perceived since the differences are measurably so smll. Detailed differences are described in whitepaper about R series on Kef website.

Peerless DA32TX00-08 1-1/4" Corundum Dome Tweeter

I remember we talked about this earlier on other threads. I'm sure it is a great sounding tweeter. The very high frequency break up mode could cause issues down in the audible band; some people say this can't happen but I do know for a fact that it CAN happen.

I would not let that stop me from buying them and trying them; I say go for it!

I've been wanting to pick up a pair of these just to hear them. According to Ned Labs these are Transducer labs knock offs. Ned Labs is Transducer Labs parent company. NedLab

Can you or anyone claiming it is a knock off provide us with some evidence for that claim ? Read that claim a hundred times but never saw a shread of proof.

Other than that, i never trust a guy who writte the first sentence in his website that all of that exists because of Yehshuah - unless there's some engineer with that name 🙂

Personaly, i see nothing incommon in Peerless DA series with TLabs.

Peerless tweeters are knock off of Tlab just as much as Lamborghini is a knock off of Ferrari.

To be honest I don't even know what TLab speaker they are claiming to be a knock off of. I just saw that they where claiming it was a knock off that's all.

I thought these tweeters would pair well with the Purfi 6.5 in a 2-way book shelf speaker.

Aurum Cantus G1 Ribbon. I score it among the best tweeters at any price. I've worked/heard lots of ribbons from other brands but I believe G1 is the best so far.
Faital Pro HF10AK is also IMHO the best 1" compression driver tweeter under 500USD I've ever heard.

Late to this party--but am delighted to see this often overlooked tweeter mentioned. Not only are they dynamic beyond belief, but create a sense of "air" around the highs that defies description, but sure is a delight.

BTW I use them with AT C-Quenze 18cm midbass and the AE15H's. Very musical system IMHO.
