One day down the road when I have time and more money, I might have to try a rotary switch hooked up with different caps of the same value to test this. It would be interesting as you could choose the totality/distortion/sound of the pre-amp to the style of music at will.
It would probably change the size of the pre-amp too.

not sure what they are smoking
If you have a suggestion I haven't tried yet, including pills or powder, I'm game.
Think I sniffed glue too, but that was right after I did bargain offer coke, and was it's main ingredient, took a set of pliers to get it out.
Some of you guys might rail me for saying this but I hear yet again HUGE differences in couplings
In what amp, specifically?
Maybe its just me but I don't like these Wima's for coupling stages at all...durable little bastards I'll give them that credit though lol
In multiple different amps
Tube, solid state, guitar, bass...?
If you break rule 1, then expect every change to sound different, as the passband will now change with any small difference in capacitance.Choosing a value that can pass the Signal frequency range is more important than anything else.
Choosing a type that suits the duty comes second.
Choosing a manufacturer has little to give beyond getting the first two correct.
When the chosen capacitance is incapable of passing the required signal, then you will also find that the AC signal across the capacitor is not near zero and this will directly affect the distortion that the chosen cap will add to the signal.

guitar/tube
I've never seen a tube guitar amp with Wima coupling caps in it, what is it?
Lee Jackson design/amp etc I have no idea if that was original or someone previous put those in there or not lol
