favorite beer?

The best beer is when the weather is really warm
and you have been working and are sort of tired
and your throat is really dry and you can finally go
get a big half litre glass and pour it full with cold,
golden delicious beer and take it outside in the sun
and sit down and look at the glass for a minute
and then pour it down your throat all in one go

Any brand

To Hoffmeyer,

I never liked beer until I spent 4 weeks in Denmark. It was cheaper than water and I grew to love it! Now if we could just do something about your use of Bernaise sauce (sp.?) and we would be all set.

I remember drinking Tuborg in the shadow of Frederiksborg Slot
(castle) on a warm evening in late June while reading a book. Very beutiful and very relaxing.

LA MORT SUBITE.

Hi,

Mort Subite may be nice, but it contains less alcohol that plain lager!

Personally, I couldn't care less about the alcohol content of a beer.
To me it is all about the taste of the brew, socializing and so on.

If you must get knocked out, buy a bottle of wodka and get smashed...at home.

Prost,😉

Favourite lagers: Pilsner Urquell, and Budweiser Budvar.

Yes, the Czech brewery and Anheuser-Busch were once connected, and like all correspondents in a divorce case, Anheuser-Busch continually tries to bury the Czech brewery in lawyers in an attempt to take over the name.

Question: Is it just me, or has the quality of Pilsner Urquell fallen slightly in the last 25 years?

Bitter: Fullers ESB from the pub next to the brewery.

Mild: Gales Winter Ale, or Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild (tastes as though it has port in it!)

Belgian beers: Haven't found a dud one yet. A friend said he'd bring me a bottle of beer, and I thought, "What a cheapskate, only one?" But he brought this...

Have you eaten in the Fullers pub yet, they have the staff chef there who creates all the dishes for the rest of the chain, and the food is superb!🙂

Where have you found Sarah Hughes in London? It is one of the best mild beers in the world, and if I can find it down here, it's one less reason to go to the midlands😉

Have you tried any of the Dorothy Goodbody ales from Hereford, they are well worth it, especially the stout.:drink:

Pinkmouse,

sadly, I haven't had Sarah Hughes for years. The last time was at a CAMRA beer festival. I have never been lucky enough to find a pub that sells it.

I haven't tried the Fullers food, but will give it a go next time. (The last time I went there, I discovered that I was surrounded by jazz fiends. They don't just argue about the best musicians, they go on to argue about the best performances, then the best pressings!)

Frank,

so it's not my imagination then...

YEP ...... "the're like sex in a canoe"

"****ing near water ... !!!!!!"

I could imagine sex in a canoe being infinitely preferable to Fosters or any mass marketed US beer. The smaller local breweries in several states make some outstanding.

My personal favorites are Chimay (and several other Belgian beers) and Pulaner.

Off course.
A friend of me and I are brewing mead, and it tastes wonderfull, but that's another story, since it's wine, and not beer 😉

Mead is great! Very mild unassuming flavorful drink! Great for those of you who don't like tannins. I even brew it myself, amongst other things.

Beer, not a big fan unless it's a good beer. I like Paulner Brewery Oktoberfest... ...an import here in the US. Good, even at $4.00 a bottle!

Denmark seems to be a good place to enjoy a good beer 😎
Has just returned from Bergen, Norway, visiting some family, and was horryfied by the tax on alcohol: NAB is cheap, but regular beer was expensive. Don't even think about good strong beer :cannotbe:

Hoffmeyer-
I have not visited your country but would love to. I have a great liking of Scandinavian furniture (my house is filled with Danish made tables, chairs, etc).

The Danish electronics seem pretty attractive also (made a pair of speaker using ScanSpeak drivers).
