well, everyone is having full right to spend own money in whichever way he likes ........
all in all - as silliest context is getting, Papamps are shinning more and more as silly good investment

It is a big review. But I do like reading reviews where they compare more than one First Watt/Pass Labs amps (F8, SIT-3 and XA25).
While I'll take the review with a grain of salt, it is interesting to hear how the reviewer describes the differences between the 3 amps. (Not to spoil the finale, but they are all superb.)
As always, I blame Pa!

I had to skip about three quarters of the article. Life's too short.
Did (briefly) wish I could afford $4000.
But, then what would be the point of building anything?

Absolutely - shared just to put his writing style in context 😉
It's no surprise Mr. Day appreciated the F8. But oof, talk about bloviation; that article is absurdly over-written. An editor's role is, in part, to keep an author's ego in check. In this case, opportunity missed.

Lost me at "Good power cords matter with the F8, as they do with all of Nelson's designs, and pretty much every audio component I've ever encountered."
Sheesh!
Sheesh!
I bet his crossovers cost more than my car
There's a separate page for the crossovers here: the BOM with prices are shown halfway down the page, it's over $12k. It says about $3800 for just the 4 inductors!😱
Looking at the stock crossover the first thing I thought was at least getting rid of the autoformer should improve things, but then they kept it! I guess they wanted to keep the hysteresis and saturation of the EI core?

From the page:
"For your own Duelund-WRSE Project, you'll probably just want to use the well broken in pair of autotransformers off your original crossover boards, but if not, then you can order a new pair through your local Tannoy dealer."
Stock xover:

Oh wow, thanks for that link!
It seemed odd to me that – having spent that kind of money on caps and resistors – he went with some really cheap Parts Express binding posts. Not that there's anything wrong with them, but they don't seem to fit the motif 😀

Hey! I use those PE binding posts in my speakers. 😉 They're pretty good for less than $10 a pair, but definitely not the best out there (not the cleanest threads).
It does seem weird to spend all that money on some kind of silver based resistors and then pinch a few pennies. It's like buying tires for your Ferrari at Walmart.

Positive Feedback review seemed to be a toss up between F8 and SIT3 as to his favorites. He seemed to have some confusion as to what was single ended and what was PP.
Who wouldn't like bringing out the 'beauty' of the music (SIT3)? I have heard XA25 at shows, and it sounds great.

Steve Guttenberg seems to think you need three FW/PL amps (including the F8) at the very least. No argument there.
