There are 2 gnd pads: one for RCA input, the other to connect with main filter caps. The output gnd is not taken from amp board (as it wouldn't make much sense) but from a common point on main filter caps.
thx
when you do Initial set up - Is It Important to short Input to gnd
are you happy with sound of your F5
what bias you set 1.3 or high

It is recommended to short the input, however, I did all my testing with input open and it worked equally fine. I used 1.3 amp bias, the heatsinks allow for more, but I'm not really crazy about pushing it.
Yes, I'm happy with a sound of F5 and that's the amp I'm presently using in a basement system.
Please see attached pic for my current setup. As mentioned earlier, the amps are behind the separating wall, in which Fertin drivers are installed. You will see battery driven (charger permanently in parallel) field coil supply.
There is no power switch directly on the amp, I installed it in a special housing on near cabinet wall.

... but since the shipping is already included in the price of the boards, you may as well order them online.
Maybe I am blind, but I looked on your website and I don't see a place to order F5 boards. I would like a pair of the boards if you got 'em. However you'd like me to order them, I'm game.
This is not my design, so I'm not selling them from my website, you can get the boards only through this Forum.
The instructions to purchase were explained in a first post of this thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1771389#post1771389

F4 & F5 Board Availability
Peter...
Just found this site a few days ago.... The mother load!
I started the Pavel today... Transformers arrive Mon.
Are there any of the F4 boards available? F5? PS?
What, in your openion, are the sonic differences?
MDH

Yes, both F5 and F4 boards are available. No PS pcbs though, but it's so simple that p2p or veroboard method could be actually better than universal board.
As to comparison, I never built F4, so can't comment; regarding other amps, I expressed my views here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1741265&highlight=#post1741265

Hello Peter,
Time for another buy! Think I'll do some balanced F5's.
I've just made a PayPal transfer for 4x F5 boards (8 channels).
Any problems, let me know.
Thanks again,
alex

Great, the boards will shipt today. Thanks.
Peter -
Do you have a BOM or parts recommendations for the Power Supply board shown in Posts 13 and 35 above??? It doesn't really look like the PS on the Pass website.
Sorry if this is a dumb noobie question; but, that's what I am.
Regards,
Thanks,

Looks like a regulated power supply.
Look at the LM317 data sheet or in this case the LT 1086 data sheet, page 14, top right hand side.
Neat little circuit, use them a lot; but I like to use the protection diodes you will see on the top of page 10 of the 317 data sheet. Not sure about using huge output caps either.

But these only do as much as 1.5Amps. Nowhere near enough for an F5. What am I missing?lgreen said:Looks like a regulated power supply.

ah
ah...yes. The biggest ones I have seen are the LM138 and LM338 which will give you 5 amps max.
I do not believe that this board is intended to power the F5. You rarely see these used in power amps for the reasons you have noticed- lack of current capability... maybe only in a gainclone or something like that. There are other boards for the F5 power supply I believe.
