F5 pcb group buy...

It is recommended to short the input, however, I did all my testing with input open and it worked equally fine. I used 1.3 amp bias, the heatsinks allow for more, but I'm not really crazy about pushing it.

Yes, I'm happy with a sound of F5 and that's the amp I'm presently using in a basement system.

Please see attached pic for my current setup. As mentioned earlier, the amps are behind the separating wall, in which Fertin drivers are installed. You will see battery driven (charger permanently in parallel) field coil supply.

There is no power switch directly on the amp, I installed it in a special housing on near cabinet wall.

... but since the shipping is already included in the price of the boards, you may as well order them online.

Maybe I am blind, but I looked on your website and I don't see a place to order F5 boards. I would like a pair of the boards if you got 'em. However you'd like me to order them, I'm game.

Peter -

Do you have a BOM or parts recommendations for the Power Supply board shown in Posts 13 and 35 above??? It doesn't really look like the PS on the Pass website.

Sorry if this is a dumb noobie question; but, that's what I am.

Regards,

Thanks,

The actual PS schematic for amp aplication as in attachment. To be honest, I never work with BOM, as it usually creates problems😉

When in doubt, follow the recommendations in F5 article. Digikey.com and mouser.com are good sources for parts in this case.

Peter -

The PS I'm referring to (in Post 13 - and attached) shows film caps, small electrolytic and some kind of regulator. Do you have a schematic for that one?? Or, can you tell me where to find one???

Thanks,

ah

ah...yes. The biggest ones I have seen are the LM138 and LM338 which will give you 5 amps max.

I do not believe that this board is intended to power the F5. You rarely see these used in power amps for the reasons you have noticed- lack of current capability... maybe only in a gainclone or something like that. There are other boards for the F5 power supply I believe.
