Question: On final assembly before first fire up, and am not sure what to use for C9, as seen in the online Pass Manual for the F-5, on the last page. Its a cap labeled "line" and ".0033" is the only other designation. Is this a disc capacitor, or what? What part should I use and voltage, if any suggestions want to be given?
Variac is on standby😀
Much appreciated,

interference suppression capacitor - MKP
You can use Kemet R413F13300000M.
I'll see if digikey has it. Will anything else work, I've got a big box of all sorts of caps around here? Thanks for the quick response!
What are the limits of varying from the specified cap?

No, these are special purpose caps. They are not expensive and they will have a designation of "X" or possibly "Y" on them.
Check Digikey
Even closer, I found .0039Uf 400v "poyester" Will it be a no-no not to use the specified polyprop?

I see what you mean. The cap the other poster recommended has 300 volt AC and 1000 volt DC, while the little caps I've got here are only 400 dc. I'll have to order them, they say "M" series?

Hi,
What you want is an X2 suppression Capacitor. They are fire proof and withstand 2.5kV without letting out the magic smoke. X1 is good for 1kV. They're dead cheap and available almost everywhere. Many many devices use them, so if you have an old piece of equipment you might want to look there if you're in a hurry.
Value, as far as I know, is of no big concern, just make sure the cap is specified to be hooked up to the mains.
No affiliation, just came up in a quick Google search:

You can run the amp without them.
😎
there is the definitive answer from the master himself. I have fired up and have both channels at .59 with 0-2 mv offset. Thankyou for all Mr Pass! I'll install the cap later!
