Hi,
Could someone give me information about any external tweeter, ala BW or similar?
I would like to study the possibility to fit one in my project.
Thanks

I have seen other projects where they put a "conventional" tweeter in a open-baffle on top of the enclosure. I think it has something to do with influence of the woofer, the displaced air of the woofer can't affect the tweeter.
I'm trying to study the time alignment and the difraction response, but with a ready made tweeter. The adapting housing would considered as an alternative.
Any manufacturer builds this?

Swan (i think its them) build a little "pod" tweeter, and there are neo tweeters from Audax* (Morel too IB, probably others) that aren't much bigger than the dome that would be ideal for mounting in a small, minimum diffraction housing.

Eh,
the audax seems to be good enough for a small housing, thanks.
But I'm trying alsto to find a complete unit.
I searched swan, but they are speaker builders, not drivers manufacturers, aren't they?

Car Audio Tweeters
Tweeters for use in CARS
are often of the type mounted separate.
Of course they are mostly 4 ohms.
So if you could use these, SEARCH for "CAR Speakers Tweeters"
on the web

About Tweeter Mounting
Here is how Naim has done in several Loudspeakers.
This allows adjustment of the the tweeter direction.
And I imagine it avoids the tweeter to
be affected by resonances in the frontbaffle.
This is a flexible solution - to a degree, at least
Picture is from Naim SL2 user manual
/halo - likes flexible systems

Morel MDT 38 (41, 43)
pinkmouse suggestion 🙂
Morel MDT 38 is a Top Mount Tweeter with chamber.
A very good alternative for separate, adjustable tweeter.
Morel is high quality.
They have several tweeters on this page
both with very small diameter and normal 110mm fitting.

Although meant for pa and very high quality studio monitors,.
The FANE FST5020 slot tweeter, 8 ohm,6 khz-21khz, spl 1w at 1m 112 db,40w AES. Used with a high pass 18db 6 khz crossover,and mount it in a small wooden box.
The only downside is the price £80 inc vat each tweeter.
or AUDAX TW034X0 1 1/4 inch soft dome tweeter 34mm.70w rms,sens 1w at 1m 93 db,resonance frequency 800hz,ferrofluid cooling,8 ohm.Solid aluminium faceplate,replaceable voice coil assembly.
or AUDAX TM025F1 round dome tweeter,70w rms,8 ohm,1khz-20khz,Ferrofluid cooled voice coil,neodymium magnet [25 mm x 3mm],linear excersion +/- 0.05 mm,sens 1w at 1m 92 db.

Heres the HI VI Dave's talking about
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=297-409&DID=7
There are various very efficient Fostex tweeters that are cylindrical and would mount easily on top at Madisound

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
ChrisB has a couple and will be trying them on top of a pr of VIFA/PSB OEM P17s (at least that was one of the plans). We'll see how they work out.
