Surprisingly, they are the people under permanent pressure and lack of time who come with new ideas and help, not the unemployed people, who have time more than enough, as often seen. How is it possible??

Life is a balnace between work and pursuit of interest. Sometimes we lean toward work due to necessity.

Hi MikeB..
Being a Cadence user, the eagle files are not really usefull to me..
I was wondering if your software can generate gerber files? (Embedded gerber that is with apertures incorporated in the files).
Advantages are that using softwares such as Gerbtools, any modifications are possibles, checks on clearances pad sizes etc.. can be done..
So as I intend to do a 6.1 using your SymaSym block copy within gerbtools is a breeze.. And I could then generate the final gerber for the pcb manufacturer..
Otherwise I have to 'redraw' from your BMP files..
Anyway thank you in advance.. 😀

Another 5.3 is coming up
Hello all,
I just like you to know, that another pair of amps is coming to life soon.
The first side plays fine - as far I can rate this - my speakers may not be good enough to hear a difference.
Tobi
Mike, thanks for sharing!

Here are the Excellon drill files:
Please note I change the solder file for the component side slightly to cover up most parts of the pads.
Thank you tttking.. 😀 Very much appreciated! 🙂
Tim, thanks for sharing the gerber files, if you don't mind i could put these files online on my webpage ?
Looks like i should start a doublesided pcb, would be much better when boards are getting done industrial...
Henrik, i am sure, the symasyms will make a good HT amp !
Tobi, nice work ! Good to see some more symasyms born... Hey, you live nearly around the corner to me !
Have you manually etched your pcbs ? Are your speakers also DIY ?
Sheldon & Tim, these PCBs look really nice !

transistors for Symasym
Being on a big island (Australia) I started to fear regarding the availability of MPSA18 , MJL3281A and MJL1302A
Happy that all transistors are available from onsemi.com
I was just wondering if you guys buy Pb free components or if you disregard this 'little' detail ?

Hmm, as soldering wire also contains Pb... I disregarded this detail...
If you order from OnSemi, you could use the MJL0281/0302 ?

😕 I'm not exactly sure this is correct: The choice I believe is yours.
Even from Farnell:
Multicore Lead-free Solder Wire Availability Table
Flux type
Sn/Ag/Pb (Sn62)
Sn/Pb (60/40)
Pb-Free
362

Hi tttking 🙂
Your produced Gerber files seems ok, even if a tiny problem exists with the exellon file and the aperture file. Gerbtools generated a very decent result.. if you want to have a look, enclosed is a jpeg file compressed to show you.
102400 byte max ??? arrrghh 😱

Thank's again tttking.. (Tu es le roi ! 😀 )

Multiple Symasym
I was just wondering if any of you guys (building the Symasym 5), has try to do a 6.1 or 7.1 to follow the creative DDTS-100 ?
http://www.ausmedia.com.au/Creative DDTS-100.htm
As 8 Symasym 5 are required, I thought the safest way to achieve it would be to 'panelize' tttking gerber files (see enclosed jpeg file) and place 4 on each side of the cabinet with maxi heatsink and forced air cooling.
Any suggestion welcome. 🙂
PS: To any 'moderator':
- 102400 bytes max ? Is it not a bit drastic ?
- No .RAR files ? Why? What is wrong with rar 😕

BTW, it's a good idea to replace the 1k pot by a 470ohms one, the setting is anyway always far below 50%... That makes the adjusting easier.

The boards were etched at home. I think the "homebrew quality" is fully sufficient for this application. The speakers are from a kit which I bought 15+ years ago from store at your hometown ("Speakers Corner")

Maybe you remember this store 🙂
I'm looking forward to complete the second amp now.
