I have the original Alpair 10s.
Sim attached.
Alternatively, what would the A10 be like in a transmission line?
Probably. Pensil, Brines, M10-A10 for the newer ones. Old A10 was close enuff to A10.2 that they work in the same reflex box.

Mea culpa
Dave,
Thank you for pointing that out. I feel guilty to perpetuate such sloppiness in a forum like this, particularly as my drawings use the correct terminology.

You guys are talking about sealed boxes/acoustic suspension.

People interested in the Jordan Eikona may want to check out this very impressive transmission line build over at Canuck Audio Mart.

Andy,
Eikona is a step up from JX92 - much smoother. I have no experience of the Alpair 10, so can't help with a comparison
Mine are in infinite baffles of about 12 litres. The optimum is 6 or 7 litres.
I run a DSP to smooth out the excess mid-range. After trying all sorts to get bass out of the JX92s, I decided on infinite baffles plus 10inch drivers crossed over at 100Hz, in separate cabinets. Double bass, tuba, organ pedals are much more realistic.

I have the earlier Aurousal VSx with JX92s drivers in the same TL cabinets as the Focalstage Floorstanders in a direct comparison between the two speakers I found insufficient difference to make an upgrade. using my own amplifier when auditioning the speakers. The bass was ever so slightly slightly better but heard no difference in smoothness. I am very happy with the Aurousal VSx, the reviews IMO are not accurate. The VSx speakers IMO justifiy a 85% Sound rating as used by HFN & RR.

Having auditioned the latest Acoustic Insight Phantom Source Floorstanders incorporating Eikona 2 drivers, I find them considerably better than the Aurousal VSX , I am very happy with my purcahase of the PS speakers especially when driven by the excellent Arcam P49 Class G amplifier.
