I'm currious as to what you want to project, if you are looking for gaming this panel might refresh slow (TTL panel connection) My first choice was for LVDS and I'll get one some time, the LQ121S1DG11 does DVD's like a dream, I see "lip syncing" when I use my TV tuner card to watch sattellite (I suspect it's related to my sound hook up method, or the crud we are being fed from the stations...some dont lipsync at all others are so bad you cant watch them). With 300:1 contrast black sure looks like black to me.
All in all I'm pleased with my setup, minor exceptions include a couple of dead pixels on my second choice panel, and last but not least the lack of forward momentum on the sollution to using expensive ENX or other bulbs in those categories.

The setup is primarily going to be a video from satellite & DVD. I knew going in that the panel was going to be a bit slow for gaming, but I'm mostly into non-FPS games where the frame rate isn't as big of a factor. The 50ms cycle time of the panel is about twice what it needs to be to look good with Quake; but for $30, I couldn't resist.

My real goal is to put together a unit that is basically a proof-of-concept. I plan on laying it out so the optics are sound, and upgrading the imaging side of the unit at a later date. The cheap panel allows me to think that way, and not have to stress out about destroying a big investment in the build process. I'd love to step up to a LVDS panel, but I'd hate to trash it due to a silly design or build error in the first go-round.

Hey I found a couple of other boards that we could try using. Of the boards I found, one company is willing to sell to individuals. This may not be the best board avalible but atleast it gives us another option. THe board I found is made by the Kristel Corperation. I e-mailed their sales department and was qouted a price of $165. This is about what Zardoz said the price for individual boards would cost from Spectrah, but the shipping would be much less because they are located in Illinois. The lick to the board is:

From the e-mail I received I believe that part of the cost includes custum bios. This would allow us to get whatever lcd screen we wanted. The major problem that i see with this board is that the max resolution is only XGA 🙁 .
