LOL@price big favor huh!!!
Well I havent even started as of yet still waiting on my ins. check hehe I am just researching it for the best possibilities any route that gets great results I'm or it whether its the panel, controller or light source etc......
I kow this forum isnt about light source but i did a simple experiment with mirrors and christmas lights.
I got a physics book at a christmas party as a gag, but I can actually use it. as you kow if you place to mirrors in front each other you get infinite images at 60 dgree from each other you dont get as many but there is several to more images of light there is that usable as to cutting down heat and having some what more of a light source

sorry for the huge list folks
The previous list is from my supplier, and the prices shown are the prices available at the wholesale level. It's becoming clearer why I bought my panel off of Ebay. This is a dissapointment added onto the bad news of the non configurable controllers.

Wow, this non-user programmability on the condor cards is really bumming me out, and it all looked so promising. I had figured so much about the cabling because last night when I was gbrowsing various LCD panels and their cable connectors, the pin diagrams did not line up correctly with the condor (ie; grnds and voltage and data lines did not match up). Don't want to give up on the condor too soon, but I'm gonna start looking for some other controller options. For now I gues the spectrah is the top dog.
Rekr
Rekr
I allready have an "in" with Spectrah. If there are members that want one of these units I'll make arrangements.
zardoz
PS keep in mind the compatabillity lists that they post, and the cable required for said panels.

Here is a new possibility, not for zardoz to research specifically, I'm just throwing it out there: $299 LCD and Controller
now if the board can be removed from the back we might have a cheap 1024x768 experience, and they say they have 10,000 of these in stock. Might be a good alternative for a computer based system.

I just took a look at the back of that panel, it looks like the controller is mounted on the back? (with 2 short ribbon cables) I'm thinking that for the folks in the US it would be just as cheap to buy a 14 or 15 inch LCD monitor.

So the Spectrah units are user programmable? I didn't know that. That's at least good news. Count me in for a ARV-462 if you still gonna do this.
Lifter
The Spectrah graphics card is user configureable (eight BIOS's to choose from) these are achieved through a 3 switch dip accessable from the outside and a single jumper on the inside. The ARV units dont look to have this dip switch arrangement (from the pic anyway) I'm getting litterature from them on the ARV units. But they do have a lot of jumpers on the board so this remains to be seen. You need to take a closer look at the ARV specs the 462 is the base model and may not be what you want.
Model Number
1. ARV-462 (UXGA, LVDS)
(UXGA, R.G.B. Analog & PanelLink Input, TTL & LVDS Outputs)
2. ARV-464 (UXGA, Video In, LVDS)
(UXGA, R.G.B. Analog & PanelLink Input, Video In, TTL & LVDS Outputs)
3. ARV-466 (UXGA, ELO, LVDS)
(UXGA, R.G.B. Analog & PanelLink Input, ELO, TTL & LVDS Outputs)
4. ARV-468 (UXGA, ELO, Video_In, LVDS)
(UXGA, R.G.B. Analog & DVI Input, ELO, Video, TTL & LVDS Outputs)
Let me know what you are looking for and I'll lean in that dirrection in my talks with Spectrah.

BTW folks if anyone wants me to help them procure a piece of equipment, I will supply with the gear the "original invoice" (copy of) from the supplier to show that I'm not trying to make money, I'll show all expenses ie: frieght, taxes the whole summary. I'm only doing this to try and help out, allthough anybody I help out I would really appreciate a review of the gear from them. I'm allways looking for upgrades, but cant keep being the first guy to put money down on "un proven gear" (the wife's rules) 🙁 I got lucky with my first kick at the cat 😉

Re: Lifter
If you could get literature on the ARV-46x then that would be excellent. It looks like they're all basically the same except 2 & 4 have video inputs, and 3 & 4 have a built in touchscreen controller. So the one I'd want would be the 464, unless the 462 is drastically less money.
I guess my questions are (and these are for anyone who might know- I don't expect you to go out of your way Zardoz if you don't know off hand):
1. How does the onscreen control work? I'm assuming there are onboard controls as well as a plug on there for a remote control panel. Do they sell it, or is it up to the OEM to provide one?
2. If it the user must provide an OSD remote, how hard is it to make or find one? Could an IR remote be a possibility?
3. What are the controls? Brightness and contrast? Vertical and horizontal size?
Like I said before, if you get the documentation for it, that would be incredible.🙂
zardoz said:The Spectrah graphics card is user configureable (eight BIOS's to choose from) these are achieved through a 3 switch dip accessable from the outside and a single jumper on the inside.

I certainly wouldn't mind paying a little extra at all. You'd deserve it. Nevertheless, I'll be able to buy a unit as soon as the holidays are over (doesn't make much sense to do it before since it wouldn't get here any sooner). I'll gladly review it as soon as I get it. All I need to know is if it has a user configerable bios.....
Actually, come to think about it, do A/D controller boards even use a bios? Is it possible that a bios is only for PCI graphics card/controllers? Maybe all that information is done on the graphics card end, not the converter. Just a thought.
I'll get all of the details I can on the A/D line of products including the ARV units. I dont expect to see much from them for a couple of days though.

Flight card
HI Zardoz,
The "flight" card looks promising. How much are they quoting ? And why are prefering the AVR468 over the Flight card ?

just to add to your tally, I would proabbly be interested in a spectrah ARV-412 since I am not planning on driving a big lcd (proabbly in the 10.4 to 12.1 range whatever I can get my hands on). I hope you search for information from spectrah goes well.

P.S> Thanks for trying evdisplays for us : )

Rattled the chain..
Just an update, I have rattled the chain so to say at Spectrah and hope to get some details from them. I think they forgot us 🙁 I met a fellow that is going to Taiwan in June...working on getting him to shop for me 😉

That's great news! I'm really hoping that the Spectrah boards are user-configurable.
I don't know if you read the recent thread I started, but I found some resellers of various flat panel display products. However, nothing is even close to reasonable yet. There place here lists Spectrah as one of their product lines:
http://www.bellmicro.com/home.asp
But they themselves seem to only want to deal with businesses and large quantity orders. I'll most likely call them on Monday. Anyways, it's just food for thought.
There is one really good thing I found though. Digitalview sells their own controllers, etc. But they have a detailed list of different cables and adapters used for various LCD's. Any one of these cables can be purchaced easily at allamerican.com. I'm sure you can't have everyone ordering a different cable from Spectrah through you, so people can just get the cables through these guys. I think this un-complicates things a lot for you.
