Thanks for the update.. Can not wait to "listen" to them. Man. would really want to come over to "test" the board! ^^
But from Hamburg its a "long" way! 🙂
Also waiting for the new WaveIO Board. My SymAsym Amp and my Speakers are almost finished.

Hi all,
this is my first post but I read the forum for a long time 🙂
I've just added my name in the spreadsheet, I'm scared of soldering the ES9023 but I'm very exciting too 🙂

Phil,
When the single ended version is available can it be purchased and later the balanced version board be added to it?

BG entering
Jean-Paul, thanks for hard work.
I just found this GB and entered 4 SE and 2 BAL.
I will be looking forward to seeing your masterpiece.

Hi Bill and All
I think so but can't confirm it to be absolutely "true" right now.
BAL version design isn't finalized yet.
In previous V2.6, SE DAC could be upgraded to BAL version.
A second DAC/PCB is added, specially populated to achieve BAL goal.
Hope this help

Phil
Attenuator on output
I think it has been said in the thread that this DAC can be used with its outputs direct into a power amp, with one of the advantages of this DAC being the built in driver stage.
I would like to install one into a power amp with a stepped attenuator between DAC output and power amp input - to control the analogue volume without the need for a pre/buffer. Could anyone clarify if this would be a suitable set-up? and if so, is there a particular impedance for an attenuator that would suit the DAC output best? Thanks. (In my situation amp input impedance is 33kohm).

We are still waiting for the SE test PCBs which take a lot of time to produce apparently. The BAL version is being designed by Subbu. So I don't know what it will be although I have an idea. Maybe if I offer my help I can take a peek ...

thanks for the update JP! maybe you guys should consider subbu dac v4 as a kickstarter project. A little extra funding to help you guys test diff configurations. And anything left over could be used for v5 😉
Hi All
Welcome CxTurbo !
More to come soon. V3 PCB are on their way for Beta testers 😉

For the investmen you put into the subu DAC, I don't think you find SOMEthing better! Some cheaper may be , some better may be but not at JP-Subbu cost in developing this dac.
i will build another 9018 to compare with the 9023.

Hi I am curious why. Found a better one ? Which one ?
No, I didn't find a better one. 😀 A reflection of changing life situation..
Too bad, I would have bought one too if the price was right 😉
Good luck with the changing life situation. There are more important things in life than DACs.

Quite true - DAC's aren't just a matter of life and death - They're far more important than that! 🙂
