The attached picture is of tweeters from a (2-way) TDL Near Field Monitor I ("NFM1").
I need to replace a blown tweeter. Does anyone recognise these tweeters as an OEM under another name?
Size = 90 x 62 mm.
They are crossed at 5kHz, according to specs.
Thanks
Doug

Yes. It's the Audax Balanced Drive mylar cone tweeter. Or a clone.
I don't know if the exact 6X9 rectangular mounting is still around, but you can still get similar:

DTW 72 - 8 Ohm

Quite a nice sounding tweeter. Mylar types tend to be bright at the top end.

Wonderful.
The two Visaton tweeters are readily available here, as is the Audax. None are expensive.
& as it's just surface mounted, I don't really mind the shape of the mounting.
Can't believe my good fortune, actually. 🙂

Interesting, that's the first time I have heard of TDL using Audax.
Crossing a 130mm paper cone at 5kHz is pushing things a bit

I used to have this tweeter in my Mordaunt Short MS15.
Not designed to go loud. Second order filter. 2.2R, 3.3uF and 0.4mH IIRC.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

The "Near Field Monitor" is a clue about the TDL volume capabilities too
Absolutely. I know they're not "room-fillers".
I have a number of motivations for rebuilding them:
1. They cost me AUS$7.
2. The seller lived just down the street.
3. I have a pair of NHT SuperZero's and I'd like to see how they compare.
4. I want to use the opportunity of a pair of tiny cabs to trial a surface finish, with a future, bigger project in mind.
Serendipity! 🙂
