You guys crack me up! 😀 Flange effect and processing. LOL. It's just bad room acoustics, that's all. SY's living room in Austin, I think. To me it sounds just like dozens of recordings I've made in similar rooms - they don't sound great. But at least the recording is super clean and lets you hear that.
Microphones are funny things. They notice all sorts of room acoustics that we don't notice in person. Much to the delight and profit of those who sell acoustic treatments, I might add. 😉
