I would buy the B-Stock tube for a display as using these would bring you gear into a Boat Anchor.Anyone going to roll the dice and try out some of the B Stock Western Electric 300B tubes from Tubedepot.com ?
I'm tempted to get a pair of the low testing ones to see how they sound on my Elekits. I know this is a no no and do at my own risk sort of thing, but thought I would test the waters here to see if there were any other brave souls who had tried this.

Or the EML 300B Western Electric equivalent? I received this reply from JAC Music when I asked whether the EML 300B-XLS would suit the Elekit TU-8900. "Hello Stephen, you asked of 300B-XLS fits the elekit amplifier. The heater supply
of this amplifier is underrated for the XLS. Normal 300B would work well though"
I need to ask them if this is true of the upgraded Lundahl transformers...does anyone know?

TU-8900 is not designed to work with -XLS 300B. It is prefect for standard WE300B. LL2785cam is custom made for TU-8900.
The Lundahl transformers are the output transformers. They have nothing to do with the heater supply, which comes from a power supply transformer winding.Or the EML 300B Western Electric equivalent? of course Western Electric 300B (5 years warranty) the current production are very good.. Western Electric is Western Electric....
I have two pair of Western Electric new production 300Bs, and a pair of EML and Elrog 300Bs. One pair of the WEs are set aside for a rainy day in case something happens to the daily drivers. Between the EML and Elrogs, the EML get the least time in the TU-8900. They don't do anything bad, they just don't have quite the sparkle of the WEs while the Elrogs are very different in flavor -- very vivid and bold.
If you buy the EML from an authorized dealer and register them with EML on-line, they offer a five year warranty. The WEs also have a five year warranty. The Elrog warranty is one year, which is kind of short for a tube as expensive as it is.
Hope this helps,
Steve Z

Hello... I am a new owner of TE-8900... so far still in learning process to using this amp as headphone amp....
i got 2 headphone.. Hifiman HE-400 (Planar Impedence 35ohm) and Sennheiser HD700 (dynamic impedence 150ohm)
what i so far know, i need to change the jumper for headphone in front panel to accomodate the headphone low and high impedence...
so what is the best position for Hifiman (low Impedence) and Sennheiser (High impedence)? and does the speaker impedence switch in the back need to be adjusted too ?
thanks in advance...
