I have moved away from 12at7 / 12av7 and gone to 6211 and finally RCA 5965, this to me balances out warmth and detail.
What are you using? I was so enamored by the 8900 and 8600 and still believe they are good amps/designs but the flexibility of power tubes of the 8800 puts it in 1st place. Listening to the same blues, vocals, instrumentals, to me favors the 8900/8600 but the 8800 is no slouch and when I want to just put any genre on and not worry about sonics but just envelope into the music, 8800 can’t be beat. Keep in mind it is of course synergy to my system and the parts I have used such as Audio Note caps, Audio Note resistors in strategic locations. Even Jupiter caps puts this leagues above other competitors. And I have had a lot of “boutique” brands in the house.

I forgot to mention that I build these amps for friends and have them on other sites, but the general consensus from my customers is that Elekit and Sun Valley kits are bargains and yes, parts DO matter 😀
Actually, I remembered I did change out the TungSol 12AT7 for a CV4024 that I believe I got from UpScale Audio. Very liquid mids.
Even though I use KT88 I use the middle position on the Bias when I am playing the 97db Volti Razz. The lower bias helps with the mids and highs. I do not need the power. The Razz are very comfortable with this setting.

I am using nos Westinghouse 6201 which is rebranded GE tube. Best sound I was able to get with KT88. I also have NOS siemens from 1963, Brimar CV4024 but Westinghouse sound the best.
Very nice thing about GE rebranded tubes is that those are much cheaper than those labeled GE🙂

I am still blown away on how great this amp sounds driving my Quad ELS's (57). They are rated at 93db which I never believed. Most people say they need 15 watts, but the 9 or so watts from the 8800 is plenty. They sound effortless.
Wow I bet the 8800/ELS combo sounds killer. I have also heard others pair up Maggie’s with tube amps….pity I sold my various models.
Anybody tried RCA & Tung-Sol 6l6GC? I prefer it over any KT tubes. Have a bunch of 6P3S tubes lined up for listening.

I had Maggy 3a's and used ASL Hurricanes (200 watts/ch, 8 KT88 per side) and it was great.
but decided to go lightweight and high efficiency. My other speakers are the 97db Volti Razz which also works great with the 8800.

Can anyone help me with the orientation of coupling caps C103(.01mf) C106(.1mf) looking at the schematic of Elekit TU-8800 V1-12AT7 Pin 1 and 6 plate is the outer foil of the coupling caps is that correct? I just wanna confirm my orientation of this caps if I installed it correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Victor,
I am wondering if there will be a revised version of TU-8800, such as TU-8800S being released in the near future? Thanks a lot.

No plans for the revised TU-8800S. But highly recommend the SV-1616D KT170 version. There is a big margin between this and TU-8800S. Different class because of the tube rectifier.
Would love to get my hands on sv-1616d but until then, I have tube rolled so many power tubes, I can say Tung Sol 6L6GC STR are the best tubes in my opinion, not as bass heavy and overly warm as KT tubes yet straddle tight bass of solid state and detail that is lost with KT tubes. This was with RCA driver tubes.
I just got a pair of Fivre 6L6G(bought for 70$) and yes, this is totally different sound than any KT tube. A lot more air and details, even bass is more plesent. I wonder whether I should sell my kt120 and kt88 and just keep kt77 from kt family.
In fact KT77 or EL34 is the best sound for TU-8800
I have LL2783C in stock for TU-8800 (only 2 pars in stock)

Hey I’m trying to figure this out as well. Did you ever find a definitive answer?
