Re: Sorry Todd...the 10K ohms resistance is the trimpot into the Differential
Thanks for the Zobel answer. I'm not experienced enough to recognize it in a different position.
<<RANT>>
Carlos, Carlos, Carlos....
It is not reasonable to expect anyone to read 4600+ messages (in a different thread) in order to understand why fixed resistors are showing where trimpots should be. Next time I will search before I bother you with repeat questions. But my experience with the text search tool here is not generally a success story.
Having said that, I will correct the schematic to eliminate the question so others don't have to read 4600+ messages. If there is supposed to be a trimpot, there should NOT be two fixed resistors showing in its place. I understand that is how you simulate the correct value. But if you leave the fixed resistors there with no explanation, you should expect to answer that question again (and again and again) until the schematic is fixed. I am here to help with that, but I need your instructions.
So, are there any other surprises I need to fix on the schematic? Maybe a note about the 220R resistor to increase gain. These forums do not serve the purpose of an assembly guide - unless you extract the useful/important items into a separate document or whatever.

I feel better now. 😎

Todd... dear friend... this was already explained...take some time.... 10 minutes a day and read the thread (only the Dx thread i am asking you..i have readed the whole forum 3 times!!!)...

Yeah!.... i was hard with you.... i am sorry
you are rigth..... the temperature overheated my brain.... could not think.
Not reasonable to read entire thread.... also i should be better organized.... more sinthetic informs...not that baby elefant thread.
Yeah Todd...you are rigth... i am sorry.

No need to apologize. My god, I read it for 13 hours straight one rainy Saturday and only got to page 23 of 90+. If I continue at that rate I won't be BUILDING any amps, just reading about other people building them.
The problem is that thread covers DX Classic and DX HR/HRII amplifiers. I can't even find where the HR is introduced. No big deal. Back to my schematics and amps.

Re: Revised schematic to Dx Precision
Thanks to Todd and Carlos for bring us the enticements of "Dx Precision". I have already bought my driver transistors! The "good" ones Carlos recommended (2SA1837/2SC4793.
B&D Enterprises have them in stock at www.bdent.com at about $1 each

Man!... those are excelent ones...believe me, i do not use them into prototypes
afraid to loose them...i use others, sometimes i use 2SC5200 and 2SA1943 as drivers, not to put them under risk... when i am sure everything fine ..then i install those lovely folks...they are excelent.
Reproduces nice trebles, the heat transference to the air is nice, do not need insulators, not addicted to oscilate alike MJE15032, hold high voltage, good current. capacitance is not bad and the gain is nice too.
Lovely units..i trust on them 100 percent.
Better than obtain 1 or 2 pairs of those ones is to obtain many pairs... they will be very usefull as driver substitutes in many amplifiers... the ones that works with less than plus 75 and minus 75 (i think they are for 150 volts..not sure)
It is hot here man...i am melting here.

Carlos

Interesting...the Precision do not works very hot.
Alike a fever only...do not even reach 46 degrées celsius.
It is a very nice and stable machine.
Highly suggested... after your HRII, try the Precision .... it will be for free.
The Precision, schematic published, will be already alike a stone inside a lot of folk's shoes... it will bother some folks... and will turn a lot of other ones very happy.
But not the Precision II...more complicated and better... i think it is almost unbeatable... very few amplifier can compete with it.
Wanna know why... i can tell you because there are other features, even superior in performance into this new model.... the Electrocompaniet idea to place power CCS into the drivers..they go running almost smoking (kidding, exagerating)...never switching off...real class A...into a very interesting way to connect... i think better than Electrocompaniet have made..only this is already a jump UP!
You see... Roender use a non switching drivers also..have not CCS.... a pitty.
I am not clever..just a good guy to obseve and test things...not proud on my things to shut off my vision and perception related other things...i can jump out my own micro world and watch what other folks are doing...easy to try a clever idea other folk have discovered..hard is to discover things... to make things already discovered even better is not difficult..you start already into a good level of quality...just to give retouches, some finishment, some polishment, some tweak and adjustments..easy.
Hard is to discover.. those ones are gênius.... and i am watching them!!!
The Precision II will work hot..will go to 52 celsius and will need fan.. the one is not economical...no economies there!
regards,
Carlos

You better start saveing money for the Precision II so long...
Carlos is not overstateing the quality.

Digi-Key also carries these devices plus the output devices. The 2SC4793's are $.72 US$ ea. and only $.54 in qty 10+. (But hurry, they've only got 17,685 left in stock.) 😉
I've spoken with them about authenticity, and they assured me they buy only from Toshiba directly, and these parts are still being made, so we don't need to worry about fakes, especially the 2SC5200/A1943.

I also do not believe in superstitions, this create a lot of bad lucks for us
ahahahah!
Just knock into real wood...if bad luck cathes you..was because you have not knocked correctly.
fine!

Precision II question
Carlos, may I be bold and ask about your plans for "selling" Precision II. Do you plan to have a blank PC board that DIYers could buy with schematics or instructions, presumably with some profit for yourself?
Thanks,
Francois

I really do not know exactly, but thinking about that
Also i have to catch Nico into the skype for a "ping pong" of ideas, nothing a monologue as we use to have..but a dialogue, a conversation.... Nico is busy, will be hard to put him quiet in front of computer into MSN or Skype...he scape alike soap..has a lot of things to do.
The amplifier will be very expensive into the parts, will have a lot of parts, very dense, double separated supplies, or one huge with two units into one board.... in the reality, it will use 2 voltages, high and low voltage...so.... will have 4 rectifiers working separated with their filters... alike the Dx supply, with all snubber, fuses, leds, zeners, diodes, capacitors and all stuff.
The amplifier board will be bigger, more output transistors, an amplifier able to work into 2 ohms, those monsters can hold electrostatics too, as will have an EMF blockage.
I do not know how we gonna do... it seems to me will be board and critical components into a kit...ligthweigth kit maybe, no schematic provided, only instructions to assemble and boards painted with resistances and capacitances values, no R2, C13...nothing about that... where you see a rectangle with 100 ohms written, is to place 100 ohms into the rectangle... some more logical and simple things.
Will be sold with profit by Nordic, but how big will be this profit i have to discuss with him.... to see what kind of customers...if will be sold in big quantity or customized, constructed by us and mailed into boxes..we have to think about.
I think will be board with critical parts already in place or into a plastic bags...the heavy things, huge condensers, big transistors, if not special ones, will not go together.... too much hard work to Nordic to separate and organize resistances, and the distributor is Nordic, because less problems with customs.
Here can be considered, exported gods subjected to taxation...if you bread air they run to colect oxigen taxes, carbonic gazes taxes, and polution taxes.... people here is clever, this is the problem, when too much clever can be confused with thieves...there are many complications here...but not all the population...majority is very decent dominated by the bad ones.
I am building the supply... it is a hell good and very dense...many condensers and high speed rectifiers. inductors, capacitors.... to make mine final supply (the final one, as i have already tested with simple supply...now a decent one).
Also, the complete amplifier may be expensive, so.... the constructor will have, if receive boards only, the chance, the option, to simplify, to avoid too many filters, to avoid teflon condensers... as this is optional, personal decision, to not make amplifier expensive... the real thing to be sold is the idea, the boards, instructions and some critical and ligthweigth parts.
So..if the builder decided to have blue stripped Hiper Gate condensers with gold cases.... their problem to expend more money with that sophistication.
The circuit will not be cheap...because i want it good, extremelly reliable...huge...to survive to hard work and to be transfered to your grandson working perfeclty....nothing disposable.
Something we make to our beloved sons and beloved parents... things you make to yourself, that has to be very, very, very good.
Everything will depend the agreement made with Nico... i am just thinking on those things, as nothing will be ready before July i think.....July 17 is my birthday... i hope i will have already boards made for Precision II.... and some folks that have constructed the Precision.
The Precision is into boards preparation...Nordic has a small accident and is using 4 legs, some aid, some support to walk.... he will continue to produce boards into Eagle... those will be sold into group buy, almost no profit... a small overprice into boards because Nordic had paid to offer those HRII boards... when he made accounting, he perceived that was not zero to zero.... he used his own money... so.. small money will be include to avoid errors once again...if result differences, must positive for Nordic pockets and not negative as HRII.
Continue to be a non profit amplifer, a kit, a diy audio kit, boards will be sold into group buy and schematics was already provided..
the future one, if really happens, will be sold with profit, into Nordic Home page, and orders will not be accepted into our forum anymore... even agreements will be made direclty to Nico and mine adress.
Forum is for non profitable things.... but helpfull also if we turn this business, as allow us to show things and construct some good image about ourselves.
regards,
Carlos

Thanks - now I have hope to build a Precision II
Dear Carlos,
Thanks for your kind reply. Very sorry to hear Nordic made a negative profit on HRII.
I hope you and Nico will be able to make this Precision II a reality; to make it possible for us to buy boards/partial kits and at the same time generate some income for the two of you.
With warm regards,
Francois
P.S. Thinking about your heat wave you might appreciate "cool" regards better.
