Does this explain what generates gravity?

I notice a bit of a Word Salad there @cumbb,

Frankly I worry about you sometimes.

I assure you and @geoffkait that Richard Feynman was a top scientist.

Apropos testing the theory Feynman said: "If it disagrees with experiment, it is WRONG. In that simple statement is the key to science."

@Galu, I haven't figured out all the variables yet. It might depend on Atmospheric pressure, local salinity of the ocean, tides, well it goes on forever really...

What we need here is the Spherical Cow in a vacuum approach IMO:

My idea, and it may be entirely wrong, is to calculate for a simple round Earth, and then apply a topological transform.

Now I really must get some stuff done. I have wasted enough time here today, even delving into the wretched Multiway forum, and feeling that I have wasted precious Time. I have a lot of Physics and Maths to be getting on with. 🙁
Wrote a nonscientist;-)
For you is everything salad, math too;-)

Did Feynman start the whole, “I bet it can’t pass a controlled DBT audiophile movement?” Skeptics often use that expression to Pooh Pooh certain audio products and devices, or to try to win some argument regarding psychological bias, as if negative results of such a test mean anything. Of course, they never actually test the things themselves. Alas, a logical fallacy is born. Evidence is established by multiple tests in multiple systems by multiple people. Test results must be repeatable, predictable and transferrable.

“Don’t follow leaders, watch the parking meters.”

Surely a reference to Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues?

Only today I noticed some nearby Parking Meters labelled 1335 zone in Portsmouth, UK near the Queen's Hotel. Now 20 years ago there was a Zone marked 1337 in Old Portsmouth.

I took a photo but am currently unable to find it.

I decided to investigate.

Have located 1336 zone in nearby Southsea Terrace, Southsea, UK.

So complicated and bamboozling to real Human Beings are these devices that I suspect they are the work of AI:

Naturally I do not need to explain the meaning of 1337. But LEET is a clue.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet

1337 is now labelled 244. Most curious. Where has 1337 gone? IDK.

I say this as an Ex-Elite Computer Hacker. These days I just don't care.

Nice picture taken on my investigations today:

Is there a nicer piece of Italianate Architecture in the World than St.Thomas' in Portsmouth, UK? I like it and often drop in for a quiet 10 minutes free from the insanity of the World.. 🙂

Ja, I got that one. As an autistic person, I have trouble with girls. They mostly want to spend money on new kitchens and bathrooms, whereas I want to buy Science Books. They complain I don't listen to their emotional troubles, As if I care!

Here's what I was reading today whilst trying to slip unobserved past the notorious Lord Palmerston Pub in Southsea, UK. (Slightly unsuccessfully, though I did my best to be invisible...but my good friend Arty Martin collared me and assured me the last bit of trouble with Poisonous Sally has now blown over...thus we agreed to a small "Session" next Thursday with our mutual friend Malou (Maria-Louisa) at said venue).

A book I initially assumed was serious about High Energy Physics at the large Hadron Collider:

I am happy to contemplate the mysteries of Quantum Chromodynamics, even if I have not a clue what it is about beyond being the Strong Force. As opposed to the Weak Force. And the Electrmagnetic force and the Gravitaional force. 🤔

But what I discovered on politely escaping to a quiet park bench on Southsea Common is that this is some kind of Comedy Book... 🤣

Consider Chapter 4 entitled ""The Undetectable Quark".

Subchapters are:

Strong Colours.
Changing Colours.
Flying Colours.
Escape in a Jet.
The $1,000,000 Question.
Life inside a Proton.
Hidden Strength.

But an entertaining yarn which I am enjoying. And nearly finished. 🙂

Did I ever say @geoffkait, Einstein was a fool?

I was checking out the most interesting gameplay organisation, Universe Sandbox which is about simulating Newtonian Gravity along with other stuff, Einsteinian Gravity being considered more demanding on processor time at this point.

https://universesandbox.com/

I have to admit I want Universe Sandbox. It's gorgeous. And I can afford $30. But is my graphics card up to it? And Steam is complicated IMO, I have forgotten how it works.

They are also most generous in suggesting some free resources.

Thus I have discovered some interesting software from the most excellent NASA organisation.

For the dimmer students of the Universe (A Set that may include yours truly TBH...):

Here you can keep bang up to date on planets, asteroids, comets and space probes in real time in our Solar System. It uses the old gaming keys of WASD plus Z and C. Left mouse clicks and the rollwheel seem to do something too.

This is on a PC, of course.

The more advanced students can get this thing:

Embarrassingly, I don't fully understand it all. But maybe you do. 🙂

So @geoffkait, where do you stand on modern Physics? You provide no reference to who Bob Beatty is, but I expect there are a 100 Bob Beattys in the World. And I wasted time googling this person. So far I think you (and @cumbb) are talking trash. 🙄

Do you actually know anything about Science? Change my already made up mind.... or get outta here. I am not in the business of wasting time with stupidity. I work hard with this extremely difficult and taxing subject.

It is rare for me to get cross, as a normally calm and kind person. But when I do get cross, I get very cross indeed. 😈

"It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense." - Isacc Asimov

Today that is more true than ever. I would say that the US of A is decidedly anti-science.

It's a 180 flip from when I was young, and there was a great emphasis on science. Now I try to keep my mouth shut when people are talking stupid, but it isn't always easy.

My good buddy (best friend now, since the previous one just passed) is a college professor and he’s seen the flip flop in his lecture halls, classrooms, and especially LABS. Just had an “incident” a week ago with a student that ended up with them both in HR and the student ultimately on AP. Just getting worse every year - within three to five he’ll ultimately end up fired, unfirtunately.

where the hell is our next generation of scientist going to come from? Or will we enter another Dark Ages? I think we’re headed there.

We're headed there all right. A large sector of society is hell bent (pun intended) on eliminating science from academia.

Some years ago, when I was fooling myself that I was still employable, an interviewer asked me about my studies in EE and physics; like what exactly is it? When I explained, she was puzzled and said "is that stuff still really a thing?" It greatly discouraged me and honestly made me feel like I had wasted my whole life.
