Then I shall not tell you the tale of my employ guarding the Medical Museum of St. Thomas' Hospital, London at night... >SHUDDERS< ...
(Famous for preserving our Boris Johnson when he was having a nasty case of the COVID, which we suspected he acquired at one of his Downing Street parties.)
There I was confronted with glass pickle jars containing the preserved remains of conjoined dead infants with TWO HEADS! 😱
I could read the latest medical journals, with horrible gory images, about the horrors of the newest disease that might strike us down at any moment..
NO. I prefer the certainties of Science and Mathematics. That way, I am less prone to wake up screaming in the middle of the night. 🙂

I feel like a mere padwan here... 🙂
You mean padawan. I checked on Wookieepedia.
Soon enough, you'll be making your own decisions as a Jedi Knight and you won't have to listen to Steve anymore!
Y'all do realise that the Star Wars is really a Child's Tale, don't you? A mere entertainment.
I would that the real world of "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Eliot were like that.
Anyway, I have finished Chapter 4 on Conservation of Energy by Feynman in "Six Easy Pieces". And yes, this picture is in the book:
There are 3 great Laws in all Physics, broadly arising from Space and Time and Direction symmetries..
Conservation of Energy.
Conservation of Linear Momentum.
Conservation of Angular Momentum.
Feynman wisely remarks that Available Energy which me might want for heating is not the same as things like Energy related to rest mass like in E=mc^2.
That is a subject for Thermodynamics.
Writing in 1962, before a precise theory of quarks was known, he nevertheless stated the more numerical or book-keeping ones known about elementary particles.
Conservation of Charge.
Conservation of Baryon number. (Being Protons 1, Neutrons 1 and Mesons 0, with antiumatter changing the signs)
Conservation of Leptons (Essentially Electrons and Neutrinos)
All this is modified by Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, but not changed.
Next is 5: The Theory of Gravitation and 6: Quantum Behaviour. I am already well in.
Best regards from the Steve in Portsmouth, UK.

Observations made overnight on Feb. 19 – 20 have reduced the impact risk for 2024 YR4 from 3.1% to 0.28%:

New orbital data suggests that "the chance of collision is extremely unlikely with no cause for public attention or public concern".
Sorry to be a party pooper! 🥳

How many animals does that rate on the Dead Donkey scale then?
Truthfully, once I realised it was not hitting ME, I lost interest.
We have a new Mission for March 7th-9th, an hour after sunset and greatest elongation of a highly elliptical and erratic 18 degrees:
https://theskylive.com/
Tricky Blighter, ol' Mercury. Conditions have to be just right. Spring gives a favourable rising ecliptic. But this should be a CINCH for all Astrophotographers, if the Dunkelflaute (A real German word, meaning grey and greary skies) ) lets up for a few hours.

Hopefully, we're due for some relief from the "dunkelflaute" or "anticyclonic gloom" responsible for our dreary UK weather.
Apparently, moisture becomes trapped just above ground level by high air pressure.
Perhaps you should take your camera to higher ground in order to photograph Mercury, Steve!

I think it must be good ol' Enery's Southsea Castle again. Prior Planning is already at feverish pitch. I checked where the Moon is.
1st March gives an opportunity to get the New Moon, Venus and Mercury in one shot.
The effect could be very pleasing.

I have designated this Operation Mercury, since Operation Neptune (D-Day 1944) was already taken.
First I checked for an unimpeded view of the West from the darkish very Southern tip of the Castle, and that is affirmative.
Whole area used to be pitch black, but my previous 20m high bank on the fortifications near the Bandstand to the West is now light-polluted by new lamp-posts, which ghost an image.
So this is what I have got to share with the Foxes and Night-Prowlers and it is quite dark except looking North:
A torch, rucksack and warm clorhes and good shoes cover most of the equipment, along with short tripod and trusty Nikon Camera. Quite familiar already from previous larks, but it's not easy to adjust exposure in the dark.
Weather available here within about 30% numerical accuracy on cloud density, and better with low humidity.. https://www.ventusky.com/
Some more daytime videos here if you are interested in the whole local flood scheme and our unique reclaimed grass common, involving 145,000 Tonnes of Norwegian Rocks, which all speak impeccable English no doubt. 🤣
https://southseacoastalscheme.org.uk/frontage/southsea-castle/
Whether it will work, we shall see. The walling scheme in Old Portsmouth was a spectacular failure. Boats in Bath Street as usual.

Your link shows interesting before (2022) and after (2024) images - this being the after:
The fight against the natural process of coastal erosion is ultimately one we can't win.
I trust this area is a safe one in which to be out and about in the 'dark' carrying expensive photographic equipment.
Perhaps you should employ a bodyguard! 😉

Your concern for my welfare is appreciated, really.
But a 6 foot apparition in the dark wearing Bovver boots and carrying a two foot metal bludgeon (My tripod) will surely have them more scared of ME, than I am of THEM! 😛
I have finished Feynman Chapter 5: "The Theory of Gravitation".
In it we learn that Tycho Brahe tired of endless squabbling by Theologians with theories about Angels pushing the Planets through the Sky and decided to do some Experimental Measurements.
His tolerated the student Kepler, and cast him what he considered his least interesting naked eye observations of the Planet Mars.
This turned out to be a goldmine, being highly elliptical in nature, and Kepler quickly formulated his ellipse theory and his Three Laws of Planetary Orbits.
Next comes the fierce intellect of Sir Isaac Newton and his novel Infinitesimal Calculus of position, velocity and acceleration and his own 3 Laws of Motion.
Newton witheld his theory for 6 years because the maths went wrong, but errors then turned up in the accepted measurements of the Earth and Moon soon afterwards and his 1687 Inverse Square Theory then worked,
And so we have it:
Proof that I was right with my Two Tides a Day, because the Earth and Moon rotate around their Common Centre.
Later observations that the very Brightest Stars in the Sky feel this same "Force" and do elliptical things too:
Feynman notes, with his usual integrity, that Galactic Rotations presented certain issues in 1962, but we know what that was. Dark Matter.
Lastly he rushes through the corrections applied by young Einstein to a more accurate General Theory that includes massless Photons, the Precession of Mercury and slower clocks and a constant speed of Light.
See Newton thought Gravity must be instantaneous in 1687, Maybe he never connected it to the finite speed of Light, postulated by Romer in 1676 based on timing the moons of Jupiter at various distance from Earth.
Feynman's final point is a good one. He says, for all that, we have NO IDEA why any of this happens. Just that it does.
Surprisingly painless really. Hope 6: "Quantum Behaviour" is as easy. 🙂

Interested parties may like this article on Kepler and his laws of planetary motion: https://science.nasa.gov/resource/orbits-and-keplers-laws/
Perhaps less well known is the association of Kepler's third law with the "Music of the Spheres".
Kepler believed that planetary orbits incorporated the same harmony that made fine musical chords so appealing to human ears.
It was while concluding investigations into the harmonic structure of the planetary orbits in 1619 that Kepler discovered his third law - the previous two laws having been published in 1609.
Earlier, in 1597, Kepler had proposed that a nested arrangement of the Platonic Solids determines the spacing between the planetary orbits.
I'm sure that you, Steve, being a Platonic Solids fan, will be interested in this article: https://keplersdiscovery.com/harmonicesMundi.html

Having comfortably exceeded my brief to explain Gravity in #5450 (An Angel Number) we can move onto other matters.
I know a little more than most about Kepler:
He was a child of his time, and very dangerous times they were too, coming out of the Medieval Dark Ages where the Superstition and the dark Hocus-Pocus of The Bell, Book and Candle was being dragged, screaming, into the light of day:
https://www.themarginalian.org/2019/12/26/katharina-kepler-witchcraft-dream/
It was a time when men joined arcane Secret Societies as an alternative.
Armed only with a Masonic compass and a straight edge, he doubtless pondered how large a polygon he could construct.
He would be taken aback that I have exceeded his wildest hopes with Fermat and Mersenne Primes, and may do better yet:
If he was disappointed with his effort to explain the very Heavens with Platonic Solids, the reason is clear:
He was unaware of the SIXTH PLATONIC SOLID which resides in the Necromancer's realm of the Fourth Dimension:
Perhaps I have said enough at this point. These too are dangerous times.
People would have you believe THE SASQUATCH stalks America and many other divers nonsenses:
Personally I think it is that notorious Dark Necromancer, who I have always derided, Brian Cox, in a Gorilla Costume:
His disguises, smoke and mirrors do not distract me. I know who he is.

You supplied a very long link, so I'll provide concise information about Kepler's mother.
Katharina Kepler was accused of witchcraft in 1615, but was defended by her son Johannes and released, unfortunately to die six months later.
Wikipedia details her bravery thus: When she was finally shown the instruments of torture in order to force her to confess, she remained steadfast: "She said that they could do whatever they wanted with her, and even if they pulled out every vein from her body, she would still have nothing to confess ... she would also want to die on that; God would reveal after her death that injustice and violence had been done to her."

So @Ro808, Roland and I will be cheering on different teams tonight. I am looking for a bit of "Pep" tonight. As in Pep Guardiola. 🤣

Apparently not enough Pep 😉

This underground movement ultimately brought 'enlightenment' including all the blessings and misery of industrialization.
The heyday of materialistic reductionism (~scientism) and 'the temple of fake light' is coming to an end.

The particle physicists should certainly be worried!
And explains why Prof Brian Cox has a sideline!
Makes more sense imho.My neighbour says gravity is an electrical potential difference aspect... he seems kinda smart... but who knows...

Talk of Prof Cox reminds me of something that Fred Hoyle wrote prophetically in 1964:
"More and more the professions will cross over into the entertainment field. Those of us who are not employed directly in industry will come to realize that what we are really in is 'show biz'."
I'm still working on my Graviton Gun!
