Does anyone else hate the term "soundstage" ?

Australia , not quite, lots of whiners, no singers ... 😀

Born on the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived in Chorlton, Manchester, England, until the late 1950s. The family then moved to Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, where the brothers began their music careers.[2] After achieving their first chart success in Australia with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the United Kingdom in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience.

Soundstaging is very much a system issue, the most brilliant speakers will fail badly if the amplfier can't behave itself.

The 'ideal', achievable only when everything is in alignment, is when the 3D space is locked absolutely solid in the listening area, and stays that way no matter where you move in the listening room - completely to a side wall, beside a speaker, or even behind a speaker.

If you want enjoyment, then that measures up pretty well, 😀 ...

Totally agree .

I have great speakers ( Tannoys 15 DC's) and great amps . Sound stage , I love the term , it's a perfect description of a very important part of your total system performance . The sound stage is there in Dolby 5.1 with my class D amps , but listening to my old vinyls in stereo mode it's gone !
Switching to my other class AB or class A amp , the sound stage is back ! exactly as you discribe !

Cheers ,

Rens
