I don't need a belief system, its an observation. Australia is fairly progressive society, we look on bewildered at the madness going on in USA society, I mean it's just unbelievably nuts. You keep that belief alive over there in Australia, ok?
My "old man" ways have kept me in a comfortable and content life for 70 years.
Whenever I hear someone using terms like "narrow minded" or "conspiracy theory" I instantly know where their head's at.
By Pro Audio what do you mean , there is no snake oil in pro audio , only in Hi Fi where people dont know very much , a man with a Pro Line system and console has a measuring microphone and gear , and tests his setup before event and is not prune to snake oil , i am not a Pro service provider but no one can snake oil me as well , because i have Bachelors Degree in Electroacoustics and have built , amps , preamps , valve amps , have measuring gear , oscilloscopes , and stuff ... so no snake oil for me .So how SHOULD we market e.g. pro audio hardware and services? I've tried to wrap my head around this for a while (yes, I have a commercial branch), and have more or less come to the conclusion that the market has been lied to so much that it has become immune to marketing..
Or what?
/Jakob E.
Pro audio service providers as PA systems always uses Active crossovers , some kind of Limiter and EQ , some even use DSP processing , to avoid having a huge console , they import everything to PC , from where they can install MIDI controls , so no need to pull heavy duty mixers and stuff , also no need for a lot of other stuff only Amps , and crossovers , mics and such .
Pretty much everything know can be done with one laptop , you can control all of your system including lights , make a time line for the show , sync it , and all other stuff as im sure you know as a pro service provider .
So if advertisement for pro services is of concern to you , make no mistake , there is no snake oil there , you can Market your self to your hearts desire .
You always have mesurments and technical data to back it up , and someone who asks for pro services , i think will not be snake oil man . So there is no issue there , only in Hi Fi , selling Hi Fi is selling paintings and fine art , people buy what they see not what they hear .
So if you sell Hi Fi , make sure to offer them that , they want to brag , they want it to shine , to look good , nothing else matter .... like the song from Metalica 🙂 They did a lot of work with pro audio services , and they have a man for that of course , and he is not one to take snake oil . HE knows , probably more then me .
Audio Doctor,
Jakob produce high end gear ( tube based, studio and mastering target).
And he is one of the guy responsible for diy scene explosion around 2000 in studio gear.

@Gyraf, i'm surprised you have issue marketing your gear. If someone is non versed in BS about pro studio gear that is definitely you imo! There is more than 20years of documented archive about it if one search for info.

But .... "old man thinking" WTF. I'm a hybrid of that (and am progressive). Yes , the " money, influence and power, people are expendable" is what
the young have embraced ... thanks to media/marketers. If that is progressive , I want no part.
The "wealthy old men" have no issue using tech under the guise of progress to abuse/exploit the masses. The old men have no problem setting the goals
and then outsourcing to the young telling them it is progress. Insidious.
PS - watch what they do with AI , mark my words !!! It will make life much more stressful for most of us. It's not AI's fault , but what goals the "wealthy old
men" have planned for it's use.
I think we can safely say its not only young people being exploited, its happening to all of us, technology outpaces the legislation to keep it in check. Google is probably the worst offender in tech, its essentially a information broker masquerading as a search engine.
"Progress" as a term is subjective. If lying , using tech to streamline lying , and outsourcing independent thought is progress - I opt out.
So ... using the term progress is in question. What is it then ? Regression with more lying , calling it progress ?

But the young actually believe it IS progress. So , they are getting more exploited.I think we can safely say its not only young people being exploited, its happening to all of us, technology outpaces the legislation to keep it in check. Just an idea , but perhaps new tech should be reviewed by law makers before being unleashed on us. Just like drugs and vaccines.

I know , but add a@ostripper - AHEM! I'll need proof that you can pull 1200W with a 4070 in any configuration you choose. If you can provide it, I'll admit to being awestruck.
i9-10990XE
overclocked , and 200W of fans, pumps, LED's ..... 1K+ is possible.
That's not what you originally said though... Thank you for the clarification.
Also... There's A TON of progress. If there were not in your situation, you've made a very poor purchasing decision, IMO.
Optimizing major appliances is good if not at the expense of reliability. cloud IOT on appliances is stupid. Localized digital control is not.until recently i had a business in food and used pro gear ( refrigerator): the consumption of these tools which runs 24/7 is an issue longterm economicaly but not only. Effort to optimise them is not futile effort as an example of what new world could bring as good...
Another factor to consider is for every watt a new world appliance saves is offset many times by the exponential growth of the cloud and the number of
worldwide consumers. The Earth can not sustain "exponential" ... no way at all. Hope for Fusion !!
I'm very picky. 80W=20K benchmark E5-2680V4 , 60W=GT550 (for movies- nice) , not many fans/leds ... 200W , nice cool HTPC.That's not what you originally said though... Thank you for the clarification.

That is progress - to be able to learn everything about products and not get screwed.
When people starting squeaking that class-a is too energy hungry, I remind them of cars. Mostly lifestyle choices based on emotional stuff like keeping up with the Joneses, or anxiety that they have to be prepared for the apocalypse even if it's for a 5 minute trip to the shops, and the standards for creature comforts require that a 4-person vehicle weighs at least 1.5 tonnes. My "old" appliances don't upset the current "grid" and energy world like it is believed, because that propoganda against using such appliances is obviously done to make people go out and buy a new (and short-lived) appliance.
Just a ploy to keep the cash-flow going from your pocket to big corp's.
Just like fashion trends... you're subliminally-trained to keep in style, along with peer pressure.
And the use of Fear in selling products and services is a powerful tool as well.
It's all about Control, not Freedom.
Use the force, trust your feeling young skywalker. 😉Any solutions ?? Like how to know the reviews of any certain product are NOT created by BOT's ??
Think outside the box .... Class A with a 99db SPL driver will be as loud as a class D with a 500W 83db "ghetto" driver.
SPECIES is the final rung of taxonomic rank. Nevertheless, there is differentiation within this rank by physical characteristic.
There are relatively very minor genetic difference among homo-sapiens, as there are among members within a given human ethnicity, but certainly not enough to qualify as a different species. So that we’re are clear on what you are saying jack, are you asserting there are more than one species of human?
I was hoping for the opposite, but I won't hold my breath. 😉Homo Ignoramus ?
