listen up.

while looking through the bible my eyes feasted appond
#1. a fixture that had a lenz on it. but what caught me eye was
the rings on the lenz. so i prevailed just to see if it was "the ONE"
. well back in 1995 ,so it says that its a fresnel lens aaaaahhhhh.
but but wait a minute whats this $66.20 shiping weight 1.0 pounds 8 1/4"diameter fuuuuuuuck that must be glass.
but i dont no **** if this is really glass. but maybe. so later i'll look in to callong grainger.

#3. i was wrong totaly about #1 it is a glass fresnel lens

break through i thought it be more exciting maybe cause i forgot to read acouple words?

#3. 1800 watt mh and dose 150,000 lumens only $666.54 back in 1995

#3. and philips make the minichar 400watt metal halide bulb 36,000lumens(look like a striat pipe or hps kinda) 9 3/4" long

#3. Carbon arc lamps are used in theathers u probly no that

that all folks got ?'s call Grainger in salinas,ca i think ,or just wait till i call.

ps. the answer to "why theres so many #3.'s ?"
=shut up jackass i know what im doing.😀 😀 😀 😀

biteon, I'd highly suggest to sticking with current catalogs, such as PDF catalogs from www.philips.com, www.gelighting.com, and www.sylvania.com. there are 400W Metal Halides available that output well over 40,000 lumens. There are also 1000W bulbs that produce over 110,000 lumens that cost under $40. Find a bulb you want, and start calling places to see if they can get it, and ask prices.

the ballast I have has wiring diagrams to wire two bulbs on the same ballast. If you did want to run two 400W Metal halide bulbs simultaneously, it would just require another base(socket, whatever) for $7, and a second bulb ($20-40 depending on model).

I think that would be a viable alternative to going with an overkill 1000W bulb.

However, you're really going to lose effectiveness of the fresnel lens, as your point light source goes out the window. Lets not get too far off topic though. 400W is going to work fine in 90% of situations, so, lets use it as efficiently as we can, and we should be fine. More work, less talk 🙂 I would work on it tonight, but its late and I'm to the POWER TOOLS point. don't want to wake up the neighbors 🙂

personally, I don't think buying an overhead projector is unnecessary. I'm using ONE part from one. and thats a fresnel. I might switch it with two page magnifiers back to back from Staples.

Also, biteon, are you sure thats glass? I have a 5 7/8" plano convex lens, and it probably weighs at least 2 pounds. Im sure it depends on the thickness of the lens, but, I'd be surprised if a nearly 9" diameter glass fresnel lens weighs only 1 pound...

if it is truly glass, we need all the info in the world you can get about it 🙂

Multiplexor, you might be right, i was kind of acting bad and did not contribute enough to the forum. But i will not apologize to Phazei, because i hate when people call me names behind my back. If he wanted to say something, email me, face to face.
I do not post any certain results because i am working on the cooling even right now, but i did not overcome the problem completely yet. As soon as i do, you guys will be the first ones that i will inform. I do not want to flood the forum, there are already about 15 flooders.
ok, whatever, i hope this settles all the S%$T and the forum can be once again n00b FREE.🙂

aleksey😀

bah no worries my man, i'm a very relaxed person, not much bothers me... theres too much to do in life... not enough time to let stuff bother me 🙂

as a side note, i read the last couple pages and the overall light winner still remains the 400W MH bulb 🙂 hehe

Results, sweet results!

hey guys,

Krazzyed and I have finished our DIY LCD Projector!

Now, before you get too excited, I'll say we've finished Phase I. This means we bought an LCD Panel and Overhead Projector, hooked it up, and watched movies on a wall 8 feet wide, with the curtains pulled and lights out. It also rocks for Nintendo 64.

Specs:

LCD Panel: Nview Z115 (www.invsol-inc.com, $110)
640x480, S-video, VGA, Not Blurry, Remote, etc.

OHP: ELMO HP4kdx (www.invsol-inc.com, $72)
FLX Bulb, 4000 Lumens, Triplet Lens, $10 bulbs, bulbs last 50hrs.

Actually, weve got a borrowed Dukane 4003, but the specs are exactly the same as the ELMO on order.

Will post pics later.

Next Plan - Phase II:

Acquire BIG OHP with weak bulb, replace with MH Bulb like Undreams, bump up the cooling, phase II complete.

.....................................................

New Question.......is it possible to mount a tiny lcd screen in the back of an slr camera where the film would go, have no backing and some form of light source on it.......and you have a wide selection of (cheap)enses to choose from with variable zoom and focus.....anythoughts?

You want to put a miniature camera in there too?

Your eyes resolution is better.

But, that might be a neat little invention for SLR folks who want to not use the viewfinder.

But, I think your talking about $130 and higher. Lcd, vid-cam, optics and housing.

Oh-No! I see!!! You want to use it as a mini-projector. Yeah, that's do-able.

Then, just design a lamp housing and maybe a fan. Hmm...the slr body would merely serve as a mount for a panel and lenses. The C-mount on the camera is useful and sturdy. Little awkward with the slr body, but, that's not a bad idea. You could even chop away the sides of the camera if ya wanted to compact it.
That use of the C-mount and 35mm lenses is a good idea. But, would it be convenient for mounting an lcd? hmm...
If you get bored come over to the small panel thread and discuss some more. This is like the A-team show..."I pity the fool!"😀
