Hi all,
Has anyone out there made a SPDIF output on a CD-46? Inside is the saa7543 wich has an EBU output on pin 2. I asume this is TTL level. Can I simply hook up the regular conversion (driver chip, transformer, impedance adjustment, RCA connector) to this line?
Hope someone can help me out.

The spdif out is software activated in the decoder chip, and usually not active when the digital output is not implement . Enabling the output needs firmware rewrite.
According to the datasheet, pin 2 can be active or LOW. The average voltage on this pin is 2.5 volts. This doesn't seem to be low. Furthermore, the default state of this pin is active...
You can try. I've tried it with a Magnavox PCDP (same chipset) ant it was disabled.
Just give it a try, maybe it is enabled in the CD-46.

It was enabled already. I used CD-46 as transport for my non-OS DAC. I just connect pin 2 (it's SAA7345) to my handwound pulse trans 1:1 through 75R in series and feed the signal from secondary to DAC via 75R coaxial.
However, I live in Thailand and didn't sure that my CD-46 is different to your or not. Hope it's the same. Good luck.
