DIY Small Panel Projector

LCD projecting, clarified

I've been reading and watching this forum for a while now. It is full of useful information, but it seems that some of you are going off on a tangent.

1. Small LCD forum was for a small LCD, DIY video projector fanatics, who hoped to adapt, the slide projector for video projection.
2. I understood that the primary interest was in Video Input and not computer or data projecting.
3. If that is the case, talk about VGA, XVGA and so on is meaningless
4. To most of DIY people, having any LCD panel, without a controller is totally useless.
5. Unless it has NTSC video controller with it (like Marshall panels), most of us can not design or build one!
6. If some of you are successful in achieving these results, why are there no pictures published?
7. Most of commercial video projectors achieve higher resolution, because they are using 1.8” monochrome LCD panels, one each for red, green or blue. Or they are using a DLP chip with micro mirrors. So to expect full color 1536 X 728 in 1.8” LCD is dreaming.

Keep up the good work!

Small panel thread was just for any small panel

But, you're right about it fitting in a slide projector. And, for that it has to be 1.8" or smaller.

WE HAVE FOUND .7" SVGA one-panel's that can accept video, svhs/dvd and vga connection for 800x600 resident resolution.

We'd rip 'em from VR glasses. Controller's are included.

I didn't see any people that were having a prob finding boards without controller's, as all the one's I've seen mentioned in this thread are purchased with them.

#6) Well, you know it's money prob's. Not a conspiracy, ha-ha-ha!

Just have to wait. Maybe someone, including myself will wave the shiny card and get you guy's some proof.

Please continue reading our humble page's, they're caked with info that usually get's glossed over.😀

i assumed this thread was for panels below... i dunno... like 7 inches...

I assumed that it was for people who planned on buying there own lens and light and stuff... to make a smaller projector and box,etc...

s'all good 🙂
as long as everyone gets the information they might be looking for 🙂 hehe

I'm not casting any out! But,

I would like to keep conversation relevant to slide projector use.

The exception's entertained being:

Someone who might want to try 3 monochrome 4"-6" panel's in a CRT projector setup.
or
A single panel setup using those Delta lenses of the same size. Not sure if they actually go larger than 5" 's, anyone?

The reason is, if you're going above 5" 's then you probably will be using a OHP for your setup. And there are already ream's of info on that over in the main Projector thread.

I started the thread but, I can't force anyone to discuss about anything, let alone read what's here already, ha-ha.

I would like to think, however, that one would be apt to discuss, where they will be able to pool their common-goal info into one thread. Sort of like a volume in a house-repair set.

Just how I thought...

Just so there's no confusion...

Those panel's just linked would require three. They have color picture's shown on them. But that's for the birds, he-he. They are monochrome.

Wonder how much though. It say's further down they have low price stock. Maybe an email is in order...

Here they are R, G and B. Pretty cute

SushiMan!! 🙂

I think i'm gonna have to leave the small panel projector thread (for now) it's just i haven't really got the budget (or intelligence 🙂 ) to make it work.

If i go the OHP way i'm virtually guranteed to have a nice working setup that i can carry diy on with (i have a few ideas already)

I'm gonna look out for a NView Spectra C or similar, as the pics that i saw posted by cowanr are exactly what im looking for, i would be delighted with such quality.

Already have my eye on an OHP of 4000 lumens which should put my project cost up 2 about £150-180 including LCD panel, which is just within my price range.

Does anyone know if Inventory Solutions ship internationally? if not then im gonna have some trouble!

cheers,

Oh you Benedict Arnold, you!

Like I said before "we're the few, the lazy, the marginally contented". I should probably add, "minimalist" and "hopeful of finding cheap svga!", ha!

Post some pics of your setup so we can see what you put together, lickety-split!!!

I saw a place today with 10.4" xga's for $30 bucks!! But, not sure about the controller board.

See you at the 'Cup! I'll be at the Gwangju and Seoul matches on the 22nd and 25th. I'll be the blue dot. I have near center seats about 1/2 way up at both. Probably throwing-up kim-chi and soju. A sight not to be missed!

Lastrovia!

Well guys I was told to post here. I am currently building a large panel OHP. But here goes my other idea

What about using a dead SLR camera as a frame for a lcd and a cheap zoom lens that allows you to adjust the image size very easily....all you need is a light source for the lcd.

any thoughts....too bad those lcd's cost so damn much.....there has to be a cheaper way to get the panels.....there is no way those small panels cost that much to make
