Re: Midwest DIY Events...
What is the average number of attendees at this event? I just may have to take a road trip!
Ahem, when else are we supposed to be able to get our serious listening done?

Doug Petersen has taken the reins and hosted last year at Grinnell. He has 2008 already scheduled for October again.
Here are links to the webpages for 2006 and 2007.

I hope all of you with in driving distance can make it. We have one gentleman that comes from Florida every year to attend so you know it's worth the drive. 🙂
Best regards,
Jim

the Upper Midwest is only happy when it's nose is dripping, it's feet are cold, there's a fridge full of Red-White-and-Blues and the wife is at Target or Curves.

Re: Re: Midwest DIY Events...
Last year there were about 50 attendees and 32 speakers entered.
We have attendees from all over the Midwest that attend yearly. It's a lot of fun!

Is there a date set for Iowa yet? Also what and where is Grinnell? IS there a sign up or reservation for the event?

I believe Doug posted on the PE board that he had the theater reserved for October 25th. I know it'll either be the 18th or 25th. I'd suggest that you send Doug an email (check the links in my previous post to find it) and get on the mailing list. He won't count noses until the event gets much closer.
You might also check the PE forum for info. I'll have a pair of Monitor sized Statements that are currently being developed to enter in the mid range class. I suspect there'll be a lot more. 🙂

Cool! Thanks for the info. That was quick! I'll drop him an email and get the hard facts. Thanks again.

I've only recently hooked up with these guys.
Nice folks, some great builds.
Unfortunately, not very regular meetings.
There is a meeting coming up real soon, March 16, 2008

What, afraid of a little barbecued belly hair?
Belly hair in your BBQ?
Don't know about that but near the shop in Gainesville Ga there is a quaint BBQ place called "the smoke house" that makes amazing BBQ.
Everything i have eaten from there was great.
Best,
Tom Danley

Hi Tom,
In this neck of the woods a BBQ is what a lot of the world calls a grill (charcoal or gas). I too am a fan of that kind if food and enjoy the smoking part too. Not easy to find good smokehouse food unless you do it yourself.

VSAC is very DIY friendly, with prizes handed out for best in category. The people who started it are all about getting people to pull out a soldering gun whenever possible.
I missed the Maryland Wine Festival... for ten years now
BBQ and all that that comes with it.
The only place available for DIY something... close to me is in Spain. But they usually don't speak english, that's why they are not arround in this forums a lot. By the way, my first speaker kits were Philips component sets from Holland and my first pro PA speaker, that I built, had Beyma drivers+xover made and bought in Spain some 25 years ago. They are still working.

just really don't want to get distracted ...
If last year was any indication, we may be blessed with even more ladies at the event - and I'm sure some of them would be hard pressed to resist the renowned Weldon charm - fisticuffs might ensue
I am just glad you are married. Were you not, the level of competition would be too much for me. I bow to the master.
Re: Coming soon
Less than 2 hours from Columbus! I think I'll have to go.
That will push me to get one of these projects "finished" finally, maybe...
