What type of power supply are you using?I have a qa-2500,and when I first got it it had a problem where if you disrupted the power connection(even the tiniest bit, like move the cable),or it had to draw more power(like speakers turn on,or adjust the sync rate)it would turn of/start blinking on/off.I finally soldered the power leads to the board, and that fixed it.If your adapter isn't supplying enough amps,it might just be the adapter getting enough strain to quit for a while, hence the shutting off.

It was pretty sensitive,so if ,for example,I got it working and then bumped it a bit,it would turn off-sometimes it would blink on and off(and you could hear the speakers turning on/off with it)or it would sit there with the power light on,but nothing but a messed up or blank screen.Maybe You could try disconnecting the fan and running it outside the projector for awhile and see if it helps(of course then You would probably have to fix the power issue,or not use the fan.Seems a bit sensitive is what I've noticed, maybe they just maxed out the power use in the circuits and main electronics aren't getting quite enough.Does Yours ever blink like that if the power connector is moved?

I like your ideas and wont count them out thats for sure.I,m not sure what your getting at with me disconnecting the panel cooling fan are you working on the theory that removing the cooling fan out of the circuit to lessen the current draw on the power supply?

So i ran it with the top off the panel and the fan dissconnected.I noticed the controller boards do get very warm!!
I may be wrong but I think all the cooling fan is doing is cooling the LCD? very little seems to go to the controller in the way of cool air.
I guess now I need to try getting some good air flow directed primarily over the controllers perhaps its own Fan?? If I can maybe that will be enough to keep it running. Any ideas for cooling electronics would be greatly appreciated.

I,m positive it is a case of overheating but what component????

Riddle me this?

Got the panel out today and decided to try another power source when I hooked up to PC I noticed my monitor wouldnt run hmmmm.Does the projection panel draw more current when you have a second monitor hooked up???.This is why I ask I hooked the panel up solo to the PC ran a movie and with a torch shone underneath to check for the picture to fade out after 30 minutes and know sign of it doing that I left it to run came back 2 Hours later and guess what??? It was still going strong!!!!!!
The PC monitor has its own power source so I cant figure why having it hooked up would effect it????? BUT IT DOES.
Also is there a trick to hooking up to A/V source cause that has never worked.

Sorry to be a bother everyone but this thing is puzzling the hell out of me.

Input please.

Fresnel????

Yep the saga continues I souped up the cooling in the projector (230Volt) oven fan would you beleive and it works a treat (pays to fix appliances for a living hehe)

Butttttttt.......now the image I get is bright on the top and really dark down the bottom.I adjusted the mirror and made sure the reflected light hits the triplet bang on.Think it may be my Fresnel,s they are straight out of a 3M OHP so still joined I have noticed a slight bow in the middle if you place them on a flat surface you can push them down aand it pops back if that makes sense. What symptoms due you get if the fresnels arent right?????

Also were in Australia can I get some?

I have the same problem with my setup. The polarizing filters in the lcd are most likely the culprit,as both the panels I have used have that.If You turn the lcd around,You'll note that the light/dark parts are reversed(top was dark, now light),so its obviously the way light passes through the lcd. Some people have said that using the split fresnel method allows more parallel light through the lcd, minimizing the effect the polarizing filters have.I havent tried it though since I'm using a fresnel from my ohp.

Triplet supplier ???

Hi Slick,

MKIII looks great !!!!

I live in Melb, would be very grateful if you could tell me your triplet lense supplier in Sydney. Am about to place an order from DIY projector but I would prefer to source the triplet locally if possible !!
Any info most welcome !

Cheers.
