Any tips on soldering the surface mount components onto the board? I am not confident I could do it especially.

Use a good quality flux - Amtech NC-559 is up there with the best. Beware of fakes, this stuff is only made in the USA. Don't buy from china for this particular product.
Use a soldering iron that you can dial in the temperature exactly - with a small chisel tip I have it set at between 300 - 330 degrees celsius.
Use lots of adequate lighting.
Use a multicore 63/37 or 60/40 solder with a diameter of no more than .5mm
There are heaps of instructional videos on youtube.

That is the way I do it:
Use magnifying glasses.
I put a little solder on the PCB pads first.
I glue a match to the component's top to better handle it.
I place it perfectly on top of the soldered pads.
I proceed to solder pins and pads together with a little downward pressure on the pins or legs of the part. The opposite extreme corner legs first, to have a fixed position. Then it is safe to solder individual legs as they will not move...
I hope this helps.
Good luck,
M.
dear ryan
may i know your status of the tda1541 daughter board?
I'd like to order them both at the same time.🙂

Hi poki921,
I've got the I2S2SIM PCBs in stock. The new 1541 pcbs are still in the design phase.

But I'm wondering to know about when will the 1541 daughter board will finished if it won't take too much time I'd prefer to order them both at same time

Between 2 to 6 months. Depending on work/family life.

No problems take your time l’ll wait.
Hi Ryan
Have you got a pic of this converter board hooked up to your D2 or current setup please?
I want to get a look at how the boards sit together ie. routing and length of signal connections.
Cheers

Sure, but my mess of a dac might be a good example of how not to do it...😛
Did I spot a rock as a counterweight on one of them? 🙂

Looks perfect to me - Very end-user/consumer friendly. You don’t have any little fingers roaming about your house to worry about?
Yeah plenty of little fingers.
But the DAC is out of reach and in the man cave with limited access for women and children.😀

Just a post to subscribe. Parts arrive tomorrow. Keen to hear this sing.
