The beauty of the RTX analyser is that it works as a standard USB soundcard. This means that any software that works with a soundcard will work with the RTX. In the end, it's probably more important what type of measurements you do and what software suits your needs. The only exception would be if you need the software to control the level switches on the RTX. This is supported by the Virtins package (I believe), MATAA, and maybe others I am not aware of.
Yes, that is how I use it. Virtins M.I.This is supported by the Virtins package (I believe)
Tried installing it on Win 10 yesterday. The RTX 6001 shows up in Device Manager both as a USB unit and an Audio Device, both with those yellow exclamation marks, not fully recognized. I tried installing ASIO from ASIO4All but it didn’t seem to help. Arta could choose ASIO, but I left it there, seemed like a crooked path. Asked here instead for guidance.
In this setup probably 99% amp distortion measurements. I have a mini desktop dedicated for it. It’s not Win 11 compatible. In the end, it's probably more important what type of measurements you do and what software suits your needs.
Installing them was years ago, then just upgrades.
I'll have to search to see what drivers they actually are. I hate my Win10 computer with a passion, but I need to run it. Much happier with Linux (Fedora). So I don't know where to find all the information, Microsoft does a great job of spreading information out and changing its position with each major release.
Edit:
Windows reports the driver is supplied by RTX under "Device Manager" under the RTX heading. Download and reinstall the RTX software after removing anything that may be there.

Maybe this is my problem? The package I used was the only one I found on RTX.dk and it says ”Update Package”. Maybe that is not the whole meatloaf? If not, where do I find that?

That page is for firmware update.
You need to download the driver here:
https://www.rtx.dk/support/download-center/test-equipment-and-tools/#RTX6001AudioAnalyzer
Use the latest version V482.
If you want to be able to control the attenuator settings etc. from the PC, you can also download the Attenuation Control Application V119. This is optional. And if you use Virtins MI, it will be controlled by the analyzer SW as described above. This requires the MI extension for the RTX6001.

Big thanks, that was what I missed. Seems to work like a charm. Should I use the Update Package V119 as well or am fully I kitted now?
I don't use Virtins ME, it is not free is it?
My initial queries was about using Arta or REW, what is easiest for me who have had a 10+ years off from this hobby. I'm not exactly updated on the news.
Btw ASIO, is it something I need to download separately?

Jens,
I can't thank you enough for this project. I really mean it. The RTX 6001 really helps me more than you can imagine.
Hi stajo,
I know ARTA works well with the RTX (and I bought license way back). M.I. is / was paid software. Very powerful and worth every single penny. Considering AP wants $3K for their software, a huge bargain.
How would I describe it? ARTA allows you to do easy, fast measurements and I use it a lot. M.I. takes everything to another level, more complicated to set up, but it does so much more. Having the software control the instrument is pretty handy, I'll say that.

stajo,
If you install the Attenuation Control Application you can check the current firmware version. If it is already V119 all is fine. Otherwise I recommend that you update to the V119.
If you download and install the ASIO driver V482 the analyzer supports ASIO. The analyzer SW should ideally also support ASIO. I think most of them do.
anatech,
I am glad you like it. 😊

Like it ????
LOVE IT !!!!! You have no idea how deeply I appreciate all your work. The only one thing I need extra is digital in and out, but I can kludge things with M.I.
Additionally, everyone I do work for now has a better job since I was able to investigate distortion more deeply. Give a person better tools, you get better work. So what you did improves the performance of everyone's equipment I work on.
Thanks just doesn't seem to be enough.
