Tom, that's newer one
older one, usually black and chunkier .......... they have adequate connectors

I am trying to drive my ACA Mini from my phone, but no sound is coming out. Is there a different connector that I should use?
Thanks, -Tom-

Bakelite is for Audiophiles 😀 😀
Got a very nicely packaged kit of parts in the mail from Mr. Pass earlier this week. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to dive into it!
My prize kit arrived a couple days ago. It is now fully assembled except for the IRF Harris parts. I'm waiting for some thermal grease to arrive by 4 Day Prime. AAAARRGGHH -- 2 day shipping following a couple days thumb twiddling.........
Thanks to everybody involved in making this happen. My first audio kit in years.
Greatly appreciated.

gonna be real bad, real bad. It may break speakers, too. Send this one to me instead 😉
You where right. Sounds awful! So bad it's worth keeping 🙂
My kit is done! I'm burning it in for 800.5424 hours, which I have determined to be the optimal burn in time.
Sounds pretty good through the MartinLogans. I need to re-re-rebias again, probably, then play with the jumpers to determine if I'm a Pass guy or an ASR guy.

lol. Awful I know. I wish there was a remote control option to switch the jumpers while sitting in the listening position and fully appreciate the distortion profiles differences.
I would bias at 0.2V and 11.5V cold and then let it come to temperature as it the current will increase to the right value when the heatsinks reach ~54C.
Make a switch, just remove the jumper and connect a pair of wire let’s say 15’ long to where the jumper is and when sitting just short circuit the 2 wires at the end of the 15’ long cable.
I cannot hear a difference between jumpers on and jumpers off playing either music or test tones. I consider myself lucky!

the difference is clear on the horn speakers I use. Jumper off is more similar to the VFET

Depends on a lot of variables. Sometimes it hits you over the head, sometimes no apparent difference.
If you are happy with the sound then you are lucky.

I finished my Mini ACA tonight. Thanks to Nelson and everybody else that made this possible. First thing I won in decades!
Very nice, straightforward build but special thanks to 6L6. Despite doing what I thought was careful checking of the polarity of the capacitors I managed to insert two of them backwards and it was only a quick glance at his pictures that let me catch the mistake before soldering them in. Except for that idiocy the hardest part of the build was scrounging up some 14 AWG speaker cord to fit the terminals. 12 AWG is just a bit too thick.
This little amp sounds surprisingly good for its size and cost. I like it better with the jumpers in. I have V0 set at 11.55 and VB at 0.39. Heatsinks at the mosfets are right about 56 degrees C. It has a lovely clear, forward kind of sound that reminds me of a mix of F5 and F6. It has just enough power to drive my Tekton Moabs to 80-85 dB without using a preamplifier with gain. It will be interesting to see if burn in changes the sound at all.
Bottom line the Mini ACA is a winner!

Finished the ACA mini yesterday. Used a spare ACP+ ground plane for mounting it atop the ACP+. Burning in nicely. Sounds really nice with good volume for the ONIX speakers I use as test monitors in my lab. Thanks again to Nelson for the design and for BAF 2021.

This is a very interesting project, love the 5w mini. Can't wait for this to pop up in the diy store. Any chance of a 1w tiny?
Has anyone experienced a buzzing sound coming from the tweeters with the ACA mini? Sounds like some strange high freq buzz.
The amp worked well for a few days then this started yesterday. I flipped the switch off and on and the noise subsided mostly but not completely.
I wonder if it's the Meanwell malfunctioning and injecting the weird hi freq noise. All other measurement on the amp check out. What would be the best way to measure if the noise is coming from the PS?
