The new Alpair 5.2 is not the same driver as the original A5 (and way better), so a cab for the old one might not be optimum for the new one.
And certianly the notch filter will not work.
If you have an old set, you should be fine.

I've just made a quick check & it'll go in. Not perfectly, but it'll go in & load reasonably; it's a slightly different type to what I normally favour & I don't normally recommend running drivers in enclosures designed for something different, but within the design context / goals, in this case, it's 'close enough'. Depending on position you may (may) need a low-pass shelving filter.
Thanks Scottmoose. Are there any small tweaks I could make to the internals that would improve it?
I can't really; it's not my design so it would be inappropriate of me to do so. However, chances are any minor changes you could make to the internal configuration (if it's half-built already) would get swamped out by alterations in damping, so if you're in the process of building, I'd just say finish it off as-is and enjoy.
that should be fine, as long as you are confident that it will stay put. I put it at the bottom of the wide partHi there. I’m building a pair of these and have a question about the best place to position the notch filter components inside the TL box. See attached proposed location near the top of the port. Any recommendations?
I woudn't mind it if you did comment 😀 and I agree, altering the damping should get Roo2 a decent way with the cabs as they are now for the lows.I can't really; it's not my design so it would be inappropriate of me to do so. Thanks for your reply Henkjan. I’m looking forward to finishing off your design.
Is the notch filter still required for the latest A5.3? I’m not sure if planet10 means not required or not the right location?
I’m keen for any tips on stuffing. I have batt material from the local fabric shop.
Thanks,
Andrew

And certainly the notch filter will not work.

I would not use it any filter on the A5.3. All the 1st gen Alpairs had some annoying HF ringing, this is the one for the A5.
Poly batting is a substitute for wall lining, it does need to be thicker than cotton or wool felt. It is alot of work to tease, easier to start with poly fluff (we use acoustastuff, which you will not need as high a density of).

Thanks planet10.
I have some self adhesive felt that’s about 5mm thick. I can get more. It’s quite inexpensive. Please let me know if I should add more than the 90mm square pieces in the top back corner per the original design.

OK that is for putting on the bottom of the speaker. I buy it already cut into squares or circles.
It is poly and far far too dense for damping.

Thanks Dave. Yes, comes in several shapes and sizes. Sounds like I better have a look for a locally available alternative felt. Assume natural is wool or cotton?
Remarkably, given the number of sheep we have, there are only a few industrial felt suppliers.. Best I’ve found is “saddle felt” which is described as low density and includes sound deadening amongst its attributes. What thickness?
Yes, I agree with Planet10 on the notch: this is for the old gen1 Alpair5. I had not noticed you had the new A5.
Same for the damping material, you'll need the fluffy stuff. Some felt on the wall probably wouldn't hurt. Best is to experiment and have a good listen.
