Deep Dive into Funktion One IB218

I'm confused. You took a pro audio dance club speaker designed for electronic dance music and simmed what is essentially a short bandpass horn and ended up with whopping output centred at 50hz(essentially right in the funzone of dance music from the era this was designed in) and are disappointed? It still does 135db at 38hz to 100+hz minimum and 145+ in the middle of the peak. It will do 150s in pairs with the horn extension at 50hz which is F**KING BRUTAL if you stand in front of it!(the only way it should be run)

They will do 140+ reliably all night long at 50hz which is exactly what they were designed for. If you want 'Infrasonics' or super low stuff, build big tapped horns or scoop bins. Even without plans, a horn that short was never going to go much lower...

With the horn it makes sense but F1 says that the horn is optional. This ib218 is sold as low end extension of the f218 which is also, i assume, a short band pass horn.
The simulated frequency response without the horn simply does not make sense in my opinion.

Nobody that know's what they are doing uses that sub without horn as far as i know... the rental company i'm talking about (soundsystem.be) always supply the horn with a double stack of IB218's. It's just a way of F1 to make more money i guess, selling the right stack in parts.

^^^ This right here.

A few weeks ago I downloaded some old 'rave' mixes from the 90s, and was startled by how little sub bass they had. Twenty years ago most of the bass content was between 40-80hz.
