Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

I'm not sure about load but definitely build and quality of the computer.

Of course. An expensive computer in an enclosure milled out of aerospace grade aluminium usually sounds better than a cheap one in a plastic box.

I can run Daphile on two different computers and it sounds different.

Just out of curiosity, have you made any measurements or done controlled double-blind ABX listening tests?

I did..
I had two identical JLSounds XMOS_AK4396 converters, and two identical Fujitsu Siemens Futro Thin Clients, one with 32-bit and another with 64-bit RT version of Daphile..
Play it few weeks, many people listened, and no one can hear difference.. after that I use HP Thin Client with 32 bit version, same results..

I don't have any 64 bit machines to play with here. Not really experienced enough to compare either anyway, except to say that I come from a years long relationship w/ an archaic windows environ using amanero/BII/NTD1, which in some respects was a little too bright and prone to unlocking and partly one reason for me wanting to swap. The other being the headless remote UI part. The rest of sound is black as night and quite enjoyable after some adjustment time. Placebo? Real? Doesn't matter so long as I like (or dislike) it.

Speaking of dislikes, for the life of me I cannot get my squeezebox apps loaded. My builtin wifi (Atheros, T5740) is loaded up with user/pass for my local wifi router. I can interface just swell with Daphile over my android or laptop, but can't get to squeezebox.com through advanced settings. Not sure if it matters but I'm using the wiped 2G flash drive as my boot now.

That sounds strange. What is your network topology?

You're going to think I'm making this up, but in the interim I got to playing around and something different that I noticed was I could now bounce over to a working browser on the phone while adjusting daphile on the other tab. Sweet.

Went back to the daphile box w/ monitor still attached... and the squeezebox apps were suddenly there!

But then there wasn't even an App drop/tab on the audio player tab of either remote UI. Are you kidding me? Is this thing trying to make me insane!?

Another restart and I still have daphile and web acsess at the phone, but lo and behold... there they are, the long lost scared scrolls (squeeze apps, now with the missing Apps tab). Oddly, I can now bounce between daphile and internet on the laptop now.

I read somewhere that a period of time may occur between something showing up. Dunno, but it works now. (mostly)

I don't see an option where I can tell the Pandora plugin that yes, I do have an account...

and now the daphile IP won't load on my phone, though the laptop seems to be working fine as I type on it and play music.

network-wise it's pretty basic, just my wireless router and whichever devices are capable of picking it up. The daphile unit is stand alone at this point with music storage over usb and it's own connectivity.

I just figured that since I'm connecting to "Daphile" instead of the netgear router name in my available wifi connections that I was getting access through the daphile box. This may or may not be true, just my level of computer network ignorance. My problems with the phone probably have nothing to do with the daphile OS however, as I found that I can regain connection by simply dis/re-enabling the phone's wifi. The classic IT tech question to user problems lol. "Did you try restarting it?" Daphile then reappears and I can connect. Perhaps just a quirk on my end that I'll have to accept. The laptop has been stable since yesterday so... overall success. Thanks.
