How much RAM in the machine?
If not using the volume control, it is bit perfect delivery to the DAC.
My Daphile has 2G Ram memory. I use bit perfect option, my DAC(based on ES9028Pro with XMOS USB adapter, DIY by me) is of very good sound quality and I don't have any problems when I use it with JRiver and Wins 8.1. No audio dropout whatsoever.
When I increase the buffer size I can still hear audio dropout for about the same length(4-6sec) this time it moves down the track depending on the buffer size it moves to the next track. Possibly there is bug in the software. This is unfortunate because currently I cannot fully evaluate the quality of this player.
@ttan98,
Please try the normal audio out (the light green 3.5mm socket) and see if you get the problem?

I will try, most likely the problem lies between the Daphile and Xmos adapter interface.

I had a similar problem there other day. Power supply to the dac was dropping out due to insufficient heat sinking on the + regulator. Maybe you have a loose connection between your dac and XMOS?

I have used 4 different chinese dacs all using different xmos modules ..single ak4495, single ak4490, dual ak4490 and dual ak4495 and never experienced any dropouts .upsample redbook to 24/192 no problem..i don't think it is a bug in the software

Have you optimized the CPU settings on the settings -> power tab. Also look at the CPU usage on the info tab. Should not exceed 50%.
Hi,
After reading inputs from Vdi and r8833 inputs I traced the fault to my external USB HUB, I remove the Hub and plugged the USB cable directly to the laptop and dropouts gone.
Thanks guys and those who contributed in resolving this problem.
Will report back after assessment of the sound quality.
Cheers.

I don't recall any mention of a hub in the queries. If you are going to test a new setup, start from the most minimal situation and, if you wish to add, at least you will know when and what has caused a problem.I traced the fault to my external USB HUB, I remove the Hub and plugged the USB cable directly to the laptop and dropouts gone.
BTW, I use the volume control option in Daphile and can't tell any difference. It is very convenient to be able to control everything from your phone, and I don't think my system is the worst in the world.
Hello,
just to say that the latest beta version of Daphile 17.07-b111525 solved all my problems of clicks and pops and I'm a happy guy now.

Just made a review about Daphile on my website
Audio Dandy - How to enjoy High Resolution Audio
First some facts:
99% of all music recordings in the world are recorded in PCM (or DXD which is also PCM) not in DSD.
USB is not designed to transport DSD, therefore we have to use a technique called "DoP" (DSD over PCM)
to overcome this issue, so that we still can listen to DSD (DSF) files.
This is not true.. there is native DSD support for USB, for Linux and Windows..

Apple decided that since Mac OS 10.7 only PCM will be supported not DSD
Windows doenst support standard UAC2 for this functionality a driver is needed
The fact is there is no standard for transporting DSD over USB
Nice review.

I got hit with a ransomware attempt.
You're lucky I work in IT.

AudioDandy,
I agree with your sound assessment, it does not sound as good as Jriver before you disable audio feature in your BIOS. You see, My PC does not have an audio disable feature and Daphile does not sound as good as Jriver running on Widows 10.

Windows 10 includes support for USB 2.0
Windows 10 Finally Getting Native USB 2 Audio Support | Head-Fi.org
Try connecting your USB2 DAC without first installing a driver and confirm it connects.
Also, while there is limited material encoded in DSD (see https://www.nativedsd.com/ for access to 1200 DSD encoded downloads) Daphile does provide simplified access to its resampling algorithm. The resampling of PCM to DSD seems to work extremely well with ESS Sabre DACS - the higher the resampling (DSD512?) the better provided it is supported by your DAC.

I was right 🙂 Windows don't support standard UAC2,
I took them 10 years (!) to make a additional driver for it to get UAC2 functionality...
You need this driver to get UAC2, If you have a official Windows 10 installation CD, you will have no UAC2 after installing...
You are wrong..I was right..
There is native DSD via USB support for Win and Linux..

His name is "Kimmo", not "Mikko", and he is very obliging.
Every PC I've ever used has an option to disable the internal audio in BIOS.My PC does not have an audio disable feature and Daphile does not sound as good as Jriver running on Widows 10.
Have you checked in the BIOS?
