CHANGES:
There is also an updated version of Daphile Installation Instructions available at Daphile web site.
- PCM-to-DSD conversion improved: noise-shaping filter and rate options. Thanks to "mansr" for his excellent work on SoX DSD support!
- Minor web interface improvements (e.g. fullscreen webapp mode for mobiles)
- Some audio driver and application updates
- Many bug fixes and various small improvements
Any feedback is warmly welcomed - please use the contact form on Daphile web site.
Thank you Kipeta for the consistent updates absolutely love Daphile .
I have noticed a considerable improvement in using a control PC do you find this also to be true ?

You might be able to find the actual MAC address by using a command line, but there isn't one in Daphile as far as I know.
Mac: ifconfig
Win: ipconfig /all
From a Win machine, ping the address of the daphile's IP on the interface you are interested in finding.
Then run arp -a
For example:
C:\>ping 192.168.1.10
(wait for response.)
C:\>arp -a
You might see the physical address or MAC address.
Interface: 192.168.1.2 --- 0xb
Internet Address ||| Physical Address ||| Type
192.168.1.10 ||| eb-33-91-df-b7-ed ||| dynamic

Thanks for the help, vdi_nenna. I tried your suggestions, but the netbook I've got Daphile installed on doesn't show up. Wouldn't the ping only return responses if the device being pinged was ON the network in the first place?
I can connect Daphile via WPA2, and could probably grab the mac address that way, but I'd still need to return my network to WEP encryption for reasons detailed earlier. Daphile won't connect via WEP... or will it? Please.. if it DOES support WEP, please let me know... anyone!
Thanks! Since my original post, as an alternative, I've built a Raspberry Pi3 running Rune with an attached USB thumbdrive and my Dacmagix XS and it works BEAUTIFULLY!.. Amazing device for next to nothing, and I can control via the web interface from anywhere in the house headlessly. EXACTLY what I wanted to use Daphile for. I'd still like to use Daphile in my second stereo if there's a WEP solution.
Still hoping.. Anyone? Bueller?
Thanks..
Barry

I recently wired my house with cat6, so I yanked the wireless card. I can't even try to recreate it.
Which wireless adapter are you using with daphile?
What model roku? I have two, including a roku3. Both can do wpa2.
Be sure you are not using WPA and confused it for wpa2.
Is wpa2 an option on the Roku?
This is really a networking problem and possibly not a daphile problem.
PM me and maybe we can sort this out over email.

Daphile should support WEP. I have tested it with both 64bit and 128bit encryption. You need to provide the 10 (64bit enc) or 26 (128bit enc) hex digit WEP Key-1 as the password.
Thank you both very much for your help and replies. I've managed to get Daphile to connect using WEP by setting my router to DHCP server instead of static. Once that worked, I was able to fully install Daphile again. As an aside.. is there a way to change the network password in Daphile without having to reinstall it?
Anyway, I used the arp -a command line and discovered the associated Mac address, then set up a static IP for it in the router and input the mac address in the router's filter and enabled it, reinstalled Daphile with the associated correct WEP password, static IP, gateway ip, server ip, and mask. No dice. Got the "Wifi hotspot only 192.168.128.1" message. SOooo.. I turned off all the settings in the router; in other words, I deleted the static IP for the daphile mac address and turned off my mac filtering. Reinstalled Daphile. Success.. except arp -a returned a DIFFERENT mac addresss for Daphile. ?!? I read in the docs that Daphile used a "spoofed" mac address, but I thought that was for it's hotspot function.
Getting closer, guys... thank you. Getting the real MAC address seems to be the last hurdle. Any clues?
Best,
Barry

Barry,
If at all possible, connect the daphile server via Ethernet cable at the router, get an ip, connect with a browser, then setup the discovered wireless adaptor.
When I see it go directly to the hotspot, I think it's not getting the correct wireless settings. Might be easier to setup from inside daphile's network settings.

I have installed the latest version of Daphile (16.05, non RT) and can report the SMSL M8 DSD interface is a lot more stable and generates an improved sound. I have had to set the power cpu frequency to max to handle the DSD processing overhead. Also re the audio devices setting, I am using DSD128 over DoP. the Mic, Mic1, output and ouput,1 are all ticked. In the audio settings advanced I have quality: very high; phase: linear; bandwidth steep filter off; attenuation -1.4db (0 db caused clipping); sample rate change 900ms; pcm-dsd mode switch 400ms; stream buffer 1024mb; output buffer 1024 mb (I have 4GB on the laptop); bugffer time 200ms; period count 16. I haven't played much with the advanced settings other than attenuation.
I'll try the Gustard u12 / x20u this weekend.

I have just moved to Daphile and I am really impressed with the concept and sound. I moved from W10pro and Foobar. I have a HP 8440p notebook with i7 920 (2.6GHz) and 4GB RAM. I'm testing on an SMSL M8 using DSD128 upsampling before moving to my main Gustard X20 rig (the Gustard is fronted by a U12 so looking forward to Native DSD256). But I'm finding the SMSL M8 DSD interface very unstable - keeps moving back to PCM. What settings should I use to force a consistent DSD playback. Do I need more memory? Do I need a faster processor? What are the preferred settings in the xCore advance tab?
Oh, and my SMSL M8 seems displays 352.8Khz. I don't know why it does this. I set the bitrate limiting to 192kbps.
And I think I have answered my own question. I reset this to 'no limit' and DSDS128 has returned!
I have loaded the latest non KT version of Daphile.
The SMSL M8 struggled with native mode (slow and crackling) but is perfect with Dop dsd128.
Likewise I could get sound with native DSD256 with the U12. Native DSD128 worked on files 44.1 kHz but failed with anything higher? Unlike Foobar and JRiver which would support Native DSD258 I am using DoP DSD128. It's too hard to try Daphile DoP DSD128 vs Foobar Native DSD256. But Daphile does sound subjectively better with larger dynamics and less 'jitter'.
I could not get native to work on the X20u by DSD128 DoP is perfect.
Maybe I need a faster processor to work with Native DSD on Daphile - although the i7 920 (2.6ghz) worked fine (30%?) on Win 10pro.

What setting do you have for CPU frequency at "Settings -> Power"? Daphile defaults to underclock near 1GHz. For PCM-to-DSD conversion you should change CPU frequency to higher or dynamic.

You should also check whether you get the problems when you use "Play from RAM" ("offline processing" for conversion). If you don't then, it's a performance related.
I also recommend you to revert buffer settings to defaults if you have some exotic values there. And you should also try to disable "hyperthreading" at "Settings -> Power". Hyperthreading degrades system responsiveness and if you have really short ALSA period time (buffer time / period count), then it has caused problems in some cases.

Thanks for the promtp reply. Yes, I noticed this. I have set it to 2.667Ghz - the max for the CPU. I have not tried 'dynamic'. Is teher any difference between 2.667 and dynamic?

Dynamic mean that CPU frequency is raised only when there is need for that otherwise CPU would use the lowest frequency available.
Problem with "My Apps" and "mysqueezebox.com" login
Dear daphile users,
I have a problem with "My Apps" and "mysqueezebox.com" login. I am new to daphile and I want to set up Spotify. I created a mysqueezebox.com login and entered it in the daphile settings. After I saved changes and did a reboot "My apps" in the Audio Player section disappeared. When I manually loged into mysqueezebox.com I saw that my daphile system was not recognized as a player. I double checked the login data in the settings and they were correct.
I asked Kimmo for help and got the advise to use the latest beta version of daphile. I installed the lastest beta (daphile-16.05-b130707-x86_64.iso) but got the same problem.
Has anybody an idea how the solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
domars

solved [Problem with "My Apps" and "mysqueezebox.com" login]
First of all I am sorry for the double Post. My browser had some issues.
The [Problem with "My Apps" and "mysqueezebox.com" login] is solved. I ran daphile for a couple of hours and finally it connected to mysqueezebox.com. I don't know why the issue appeared and finally disappeared. However, the problem seems to be solved.

2. How can I pull the actual hardware mac address for the wireless NIC card in the netbook? I no longer have an operating system on it other than Daphile, and the BIOS doesn't show it... at least, not that I've found.
If you have an Android (real) phone, download Fing and it will list everything on your network, including the MAC addresses
I have just built a new dedicated music PC. Won't go in to the details but I have included a 4TB Sata drive. In Daphile I can access my remote music and copy it to this internal drive using copy /paste. The music is structured alphabetically 123, A, ... Z. When I try an copy all of it I get a JSON error. But if I select an initial subset of directories the copy seems to work. It only seems to be able to do a duplicate file directory replace rather than a merge - not really an issue.
How do I access the Daphile pc from my home pc (win10)? I find \\Daphile (daphile being the name of the daphile pc) but I am then prompted for a user and password. I ahev tried a number of combinations but no success. Ideally I would like to 'push' files from my home pc to daphile rather than use Daphile to do a 'pull'.
And thanks again for a great product. My Daphile PC is based on a ga-z170m-d3h and G4400 cpu with 8 GB RAM, 128GB M.2 drive and Gigabyte ac wireless card. Everything is working as expected with Daphile up and running in a few minutes rather than a few hours with Windows ! I also have a Silverstone SFX 300w psu and Zalman cnps8900 cooler - all very quiet and a lot cheaper than a linear psu and passive cooling.

I am awaiting arrival of a Paul Pang USB v2 card for my PC. I note it requires a 5v power feed with the option to use either the internal PC psu molex feed; or an external alternative. Is it possible to configure a 5v cell phone power pack with the idea the powerpack is charged off the PSU; and then provides a clean 'battery' DC voltage to the PP card? The powerpack can be placed inside the PC for convenience.
When copying files from my home PC to the daphile pc internal drive using copy and paste over a gb network I keep getting an error after a few minutes - "invalid backend response - data is not json". Is this a 'bug' with daphile or more likely is it something I am doing or rather am not doing?
