That is why I use regular linux distributions for my audio needs...
Which one?
Is there any other 'idiotproof' music server like Daphile..
I suggest to use the latest Daphile beta version based on kernel 4.1.2.
I like it more than the older versions based on kernel 3.xx.

How do you recommend to update it? It's 32 and 64bit version in one ISO file?
Regards,
Tomislav
Pardon, I linked only the 64 bit version, but here is present also the latest 32 bit vers dated 18 jul

Yes there is a way if you have a previous version already installed.
For example go to 192.168.x.xx/cgi-bin/Devel , where x.xx are your daphile ip address and you have to copy the link of the new version in the installation field in the web page.
Same procedure if you have Daphile installed on usb stick.

I installed the real-time kernel version, but that gave some weird effect on the music in my setup: music sounded softer and more distant ... ??! I installed the regular 1508 version after this and that one sounded "better" (i.e. more like the older 1507 version I was using before) ... ? My setup: Daphile running in VirtualBox and music playing through SB-touch which is connected to USB-DAC.
What's the experience of other Daphile-users?

Have you taken a listen to Daphile booted off a flash drive? Running the OS in virtualbox defeats the purpose of a headless OS which isn't just for the simplicity but also less cpu processes gives you less jitter meaning better sound quality.I installed the real-time kernel version, but that gave some weird effect on the music in my setup: music sounded softer and more distant ... ??! Yes I agree don't like the rt kernel. The 15.07 is the best in my opinion.I installed the real-time kernel version, but that gave some weird effect on the music in my setup: music sounded softer and more distant ... ??! Hi,
I can boot directly on USB drive and enjoyed Daphile., I would like to integrate it to the boot sequence.
I am thus looking for dual boot help on EFI System ...
Boot manager is GRUB2 (grub-efi)
Ubuntu 14.04 + Windows + Daphile (if able to boot ...!)
If anybody managed to boot daphile fron GRUB either through USB install or HDD install (preffered), you may be pleased to share your 40_custom file.
I am stucked for many days ....
Many thanks for your helps ...

Hi There,
Just like to add my two penneth if I may.
I installed the new update today (regular 1508 version) and found it an improvement over my previous 1502 version.
After listening to it for a while I then installed the 1508 rt version and instantly found this to be the best sounding of all. No loss of midrange and treble sounding much clearer with less mush. I find I'm able to hear more of whats going on in the mix and everything Ive tried so far just sounds better - IMHO.
After a week or so of listening I will go back to the regular 1508 version (as a reality check) just to make sure its not my imagination and report back here.
My System is:
HP/Compaq Presario desktop: AMD Athlon 64, 4Gb ram, 120Gb Harddrive. with SPDIF (coaxial) out to-
Linn Numerik DAC feeding-
EAR 868pl feeding-
AKSA 80 power amp feeding-
NAIM Intro Loudspeakers.
Kind Regards
Royville.

If you think it will sound better, it will sound better - as long as it is a sighted listening...
Hi Julf,
Sorry, but I disagree!
When I installed the rt version I was fully expecting it to sound worse than the standard version, as I had just looked at this forum.
Kind Regards
Royville.

But it was sighted listening, right?
