Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

Hi,

I have a question about the following error message I get in the webUI: "unable to create archive."

I am trying to download some music from my daphile instance (ver. daphile-24.06-x86_64, installed on internal ssd, intel NUC), via the File Manager. This music (various files, albums) plays fine, and I can use the Daphile without a problem.
However when I click File Manager->Download, targeted either at a folder or a selection of files, I get this notification: "unable to create archive."

When I want to download a single/individual file (via File Manager) all is good, and I can download the respective file.

Any idea why that is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks!

I've installed the beta version so that I can use SSH and SCP (to keep my library sync'ed with my other hard drives - Lots Of Copies Keep Stuff Safe!). That said, using the root user by default seems unsafe and I'm struggling on creating new users, setting permissions, etc. If anyone has experience and advice, please point me to the relevant post(s) in this thread, DM me, or post a response here if you think that makes the most sense.
not sure if a non-root user is the way to go: all processes are running as root, so if you try to do things as a user you may end up with permission problems. I would change the root password (command "passwd" when you logged into the system via SSH). The environment is pretty save is long as you change the password
I guess if I can solve the issues with creating other system users, that have sudo abilities, this question will be answered but for the meantime while I'm using the root user, how can I set up SSH keys and a bash environment? Or is that even dumber?
if you have an SSH key you can create the /.ssh directory. In the directory create the file authorized_keys. Put your key in it and you should be able to start SSH directly (e.g. "ssh root@<ip-address>). It'll start a bash session then. If this works it should also work for SCP.

I have been enjoying Daphile (daphile-23.01-b041628-x86_64-rt) without any issues since last year. I try to upgrade to the latest version (daphile-24.06-b110732-x86_64-rt) this week and run into an odd problem.

My system includes:
  • PC: Zotac ZBOX nano
  • DAC: Matrix Audio X-Sabre ES9018
  • NAS: Synology DS923+
  • Boot drive: Patriot 16GB USB-2 SSD
Symptoms:

The PC booted up OK. After putting in the NFS address and restart, it paused during ‘Rescanning Media Library…Scanning new music files’ and about 5 minutes later will show error ‘Free storage Full’.

Media Server Log file:

I have tried to boot from my other Samsung laptop and got the same result but paused at a different file location. Any suggestions are welcome.

When a new version of Daphile is installed on my 16GB USB drive and boot up in my PC (Zotac ZBOX nano), it will always do a rescan of everything. And it is during this first scan that Daphile got stuck around the 1300~1500th file. I have tried to move some of the albums around, the same problem will appear on a different spot.
I don't think any of the storage space is full. My DS932+ has >7TB of free space. Running the older version (daphile-23.01-b041628-x86_64-rt), everything comes up fine. Free memory on the PC is 3461MB of the total 3836MB. Boot drive Free Storage is 61.9MB (95%) DaphileData. You can see the attach pic for details.
I can try a 32GB USB drive and see if it can fix the problem.

USB drives will do this. It should restart after a few minutes, the write speed of the drive is not high and Daphile does write a bunch of info to the drive while scanning. For very large libraries it is recommended to use a faster storage mechanism. You could also use a SSD for the initial scan, then dump the image on to the USB drive.

Hello,
As of 2015, I have been using Daphile through Nuc.
My question is; The interface opens but it looks empty, meaning no folders are visible. I cannot go into settings and access storage. Setting button does not work.
I am looking forward to your valuable contributions.
Thank you in advance for your contributions.

the problem with your SanDisk is that there is already data on it that is seen as VortexBox. Daphile prefents you from using a disk with data on it. You need to erase the data from the disk first. If you can do this from a linux-system you can use this command: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=4M count=100 (I used "sdb" as an example: your diskname may be different in your system). Be careful not to erase a disk with data you want to keep !!

Hello everyone. New to the forum but been studing Volumio vs Daphile for a while.
Got a nice USB DAC and found that Tidal support is suscription based on Volumio so I discarded it. Will use Daphile.
I plan to use Daphile for all my music needs. Sadly, I have a really low power pc (Atom X5 with 2GB RAM) with an USB DAC, so I can't figure out if REALTIME KERNEL is better or worse, and in which case I use it (or not). Not even the official website, faq or readme says anything about it, and I can't seem to find any official forum or place to chat/discuss about Daphile save for THIS thread. Help!
hi matcarfer! I am running the last real-time version on a faster machine than atom ( MeLE Quieter 3.0 ), and it is working nice. If you will gonna use atom processor, i suggest you to use the normal version (I was using same kind of config on a Gigabyte mini-pc). If you have a very good audio chain, the difference between normal and real-time is almost imaginary, but do exists (real-time version seems to have a grain more SQ).
