If I was going to vent I thought here would be the one place that would understand.
A little back story......
I have several brain tumors and have been dealing with this for years, physically, financially and mentally. I had one minor surgery so far and what is left was "inoperable".....well with quickly failing health, a few months ago changed their minds......we're now going in. As the days count down to surgery I am crippled with fear and worry. Yet again the one thing that has been there for me when I needed an outlet is audio. In preparation of my recovery over the last few months I have found cabinets for my Fostex 126's and 127's that "work".....they are nothing more than thrift store cabinets with new baffles screwed on, but hey when you're unemployed whatever works! This is the last part of my system that needs finished before I can enjoy it during my bed rest so yesterday I took the drivers out and sanded the cabinets. I left both pair on my back porch over night to wake up to NO CABINETS!
I'm so pissed off at myself for leaving them out in the first place but come on......they are empty cabinets with deep scratches and crappy looking mis-matched baffles!! I went through about 6 pairs of trash speakers to get cabinets that worked damnit. I'm now cabinet-less, broke, have waaaay to much to worry about and I'm sitting here upset about empty speaker cabinets that some local surely pawned for his next "fix".
I wonder how FE126eN's will sound in a Kleenex box........
I will enjoy my reworked Minimus 7's for now

Well that truly sux. Sorry to hear it.
But, at least you know that your taste in speaker boxes is well valued by the local hoodlums. 😉

I'm telling you Pano these cabinets were ugly...... they were "functional" at best
I really can't imagine what these twirps are going to do with them.........then again maybe they have some Fostex that needed homes too

Sometimes, it's like Mt Everest- it's "because they're there."
I think that's it exactly......one night they took a wind chime, just one......not the other 6 or so......who knows

I sure do Pete.....that's one thing they'd have to fight me for 😛
If it would make you feel better, in my country with supposedly low crime rate, shoes left outside doors can get stolen.
When I see how people in other countries can get by without a perimeter fence, it makes me wonder if my country, where a metal gate in front on the only entrance to the flat is mandatory, is really safe.

Stealing shoes.....now that is bad. Unfortunately I don't know if a "safe" place exists in any country..... I live in a very rough area with a high crime rate (4 armed bank robberies, one man held up at gun point and several gang shootings in one weeks time within 2 miles of my place) so I think living in a cave is my next step. It's pretty mandatory to have guns in the home here for protection, not that I'd ever shoot anyone over speakers or shoes but I'd love to see the look on their face when I chambered my shotgun......everyone knows that sound
Sorry to hear about this, trying to think what you could use for a cabinet which is cheap and available (I've made ports from toothpaste tubes to save money!)
And hope you make a swift recovery, both my parents have had cancer in the last 18 months, my mum is now ok after the op/radiotherapy and my dad's was pretty bad but he also pulled through. He went on a strict diet (no red meat etc) which he reckons helped alot.

Thanks Bill and sorry to hear about your folks. Cancer is no joke and has made it's path through my family (mostly stomach and colon cancer). I thank my lucky stars everyday mine has yet to be deemed cancer but my fear is it's only a matter of time.....but in the end all we really have is time so I'll enjoy mine until a diagnosis of Cancer and even more so after.
I was actually thinking about my "kleenex box" comment......I have seen cardboard boxes before as templates I wonder how and what to use to stiffen the cardboard...... I do have some cardboard tubing here for shipping I could use for ports and plenty of cardboard.....that's really all I could work with here in an apartment anyway.
Hey man, I feel for you! That sucks! One day I needed to carry something with my dolly. Moving it, one wheel just fell. The bastards took all the screws that hold the wheel in place, and put the wheel back so all looks fine. I understand people need some screws in a hurry, but why didn't they put them back when they got time? This is Canada... how much do 5 screws cost? I had replacements at home, but the time and just the act in itself was offensive to me. Wish you a speedy recovery!

It takes all kinds of people to make the world go around doesn't it......

Underfloor insulation 2" think one brand is floormate very hard.
Usually you find some leftover at construction sites or ones with broken corners at the local lumber yard.
Glue with plyurethane then cutting nicely isn´t critical.
