I'm a hobbyist and not selling anything. Based on Mouser/Digikey parts cost my estimate for total in box including remote control is <350 EUR for Black Edition and <450 EUR for SilverLine.
Too early to say anything but they sound very much alike. Neutral with pitch-black background.Which one do you prefer SQ wise?
bohrok2610, as I see, both DACs have the common part with different DAC modules?
Few years ago I also did the modular DAC, with changeable modules.
The common part consists of - USB/SPDIF/Optical inputs, RCA output connectors, Control Unit, Headphone Amplifier, Power Supply.
It was very interesting to be able to compare different DACs with all other things being equal (power and input interfaces).
The modules I made: AD1862, AK4490/93, AK4495, AK4499ex, Rohm DB34352, BD34301.
Alex.
P.S. I don't want to impose my opinion on anyone, so I won't share the results of these comparisons. But it was interesting.
Most of my DAC boards have the same format so they can be fitted to the same chassis and use same modules. I have made such DACs with AD1862 (NOS), ES9038Q2M (dual mono), AK4490/93 (dual mono), ES9039Q2M and AK4191+AK4499EX. In addition I've made a couple of DACs which also fit into the same chassis but need slightly different modules: PMD100+PCM1702 and RTZ+PCM2DSD. Of those DACs I currently use only ES9039Q2M and AK4191+AK4499EX.both DACs have the common part with different DAC modules?

Do you use anything to mute the output during the power on/off transients?
Alex.
The DACs are powered with SilentSwitcher that mitigates power on/off transients as it has a slow-start and low output capacitance which helps DAC output stage op amp rails to drain out very quickly at power off.
There is also an output relay in the built-in headphone amp but that is more for DC protection.

And at "on" the is no "clicks"?output stage op amp rails to drain out very quickly at power off.
There is a problematic area, when the OP's power supply voltages are too low for the normal OP operation, which usually provide "click" at the output.
I always use relays, because I have big capacitance after OP's LDO (TPS7A39).
Alex.
Hi all. I'm new to the forum but was really interested to see what people are up to!
Here's a video of my new DAC design (actually a series of 6 videos as I build it out). It's a single-bit DAC design, based around the same design philosophy as the Pink Triangle DaCapo, i.e. really musical and analogue sounding, but redesigned from component level up to give much better clarity and details, especially on 44.1kHz material (most of mine!)

Strictly for fans of kickstarter marketing promos.
I hope there is more of interest in the vids than just my very brief Kickstarter plug. I go into a bit of detail in some of the vids about what I've done, how I've done it and the various signals through the DAC. But I admit I do hope to do a Kickstarter in the near future - personally I think more of us should do this for projects we're particularly proud of!
@apex I disagree, if you want to go commercial, do as everyone, just invest and offer it. People will get something for their money (a shipped product with warranty)
Also, many campaigns in this sector flop. Money gone... I would never give money to campaigns.

I will stop this discussion at this point. This is a Gallery - If you want to go commercial go to the vendor's bazar on the forum. we can continue there
thanks
