Don't worry about Erin's comment re 7220 noise etc 🙂
He and the others are miles ahead of us in the search for nirvana.
Look at the way they talk to each other for example - I have no idea what they are talking about... but you can pick up excellent tips from them when they are in a sharing mood !!!
Notice they don't even listen to TDA anymore - it's way too boring....haaha
If you like the CD60 now and you do the ps mods and the independent clocking of all chips as discussed you'll be very pleased with what you hear.
The NOS camp love it and argue with the oversampling camp all the time.
I did it once ( albeit poorly implemented ) and hated it.
One day I'll have another go and do it properly and judge it again.
It makes plenty of sense doing it if you think about it rationally....like shorter signal path and no noisy chip etc but the hash that's allegedly present in the hf in NOS needs something doing about it - that's the part I have not grasped. If you read ecdesigns ultimate NOS thread it's easy to get lost and particularly with my level of electronic understanding.
I love the sound of my silent SAA7220 😀😀😀
Cans have left the building btw..😉

Thanks!
Sold a toroid I had no use for and ordered/will order some more parts.
This build is with a few more parts up to $220, and that's without transformers, 0,3ppm TCXO, filmcaps for B1 etc.
Following the re-clocking PDF to the letter about decoupling caps, all metallized polypropylen. In fact all filmcaps are.

Correction......' stunned into utter disbelief ' .....that's more like it.
Also, don't forget Erin listens sitting upside down and this can affect auditory
judgement....plus he probably drinks gallons of Fosters lager during listening and soldering sessions.😀😀😀😀😀😀
Andrew, I still do use TDA1541, just in a different build than this one.
Oooops... you still there ?
Hey, I wasn't shooting at you - hope you got that.
0,3ppm TCXO, filmcaps for B1 etc.
Did you find rci lithiumpolymer on ebay with the 11.289 .3ppm's ?
Just found it yesterday

Huh?
Mayday, my comment was simply my answer to your question. It is not intended to discourage you.
Andrew, yes, upside down, hanging from the rafters, hearing like a bat 🙂

Ahh, I found it from another seller, TCXO labeled Vanguard.
The one you found is slightly cheaper though
Hey guys it's all my fault....
I knew Erin was not being de motivating, it's about sharing experience and opinions.
Erin is absolutely correct about the 7220 - it's a noisy bugger and it can't be completely silenced.
Powered on it's own and then take away it's clock distribution responsibilities brings huge gains - it's widely known.
Sorry fella's - I was just having a laugh😱
