HP mini PC. For other inputs SPDIF, TOSLINK & I2S I use AK4118 boards with 16x2 LCD display. Amanero or JLS I2S output connects to AK4118 board I2S input. I bought the blue display afterwards, because this yellow one is disgusting. 🙄

Don't buy AK4118 board without LCD display, because it won't work, default setting is for OLED display which is very small.

By the way, did I get it right that if I bypass shift registers from JLS direct I cannot implement switch selection, say between USB and toslink?
If you choose a direct JLS-DAC connection, there are no other inputs. You can just add a display for the sampling rate, it receives signal from LRCK.

Understand. Yep, the display is the last one to be added. All parts should be with me next week latest (PCBs from the manufacturer take the longest).

The display is not a mandatory part, I put it there to make it a little more colorful. The one above has an option to change the font colors. Tragically, there is no red color in the menu. 🤣

This one could also be used with 2.42 inch oled, but you will have to power it with a separate 3.3v supply because if you power it from the AK4118 board it will keep rebooting after every few seconds due to power overload.
Mine is a work in progress, cant compete in a beauty pageant as I am using a repurposed ROTEL casing front and back redesigned plates are still pending with the CNC guys.
The 2.42 display looks pretty cool though.
