Yea I was looking through there but i could seem to find where you put that controller that has the red flex cable that goes to the lcd?
@I_eat_flowers
Where did you get the power for your ventilators from? Did you get it from the trafo of the lcd? or somewhere else?
And what is the air direction? Does the big front vent suck hot air out or does it blow cool air in? And the small vent?
Keep up the nice work!!!!

if you are talking about the exclusive shop. I dont speak german either, but i mailed them, and it seems that they are working on the english version. I should be ready in a couple of days, they promised me. I got through the site using bablefish translations (can be found on www.altavista.com), there you can translate from german to english (with "some" strange translations ;-) )
dettman23 said:Hey ace or flowers if you have time do you think you could post some pics of how and where you set all your lilliput boards and controllers? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.
hey dettman,
wow, so much written.
on page one http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=30032&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 you'll find it.
the controller-board is placed on the bottom. i've extended the distance w an 50cm ffc to the "small board" on top of the picture.
i've stripped the psu from its enclosure and tighten it on the front wall ( picture's bottom). the 13-pole ffc to menu bar is lead through a hole in the front. there's no need for extension.
hope that helps abit.
to run the fans the psu can bear it. well, i've used an extra psu for it but there is no need for.
hope my english isn' too bad and its comprehensive. lol

hey promy,
i have an extra psu delivering 7.5 volts. but u can use the genuine psu too. put the two fans in a row, so they'll get ea 6 volts. that works. i know it from the german forum.
the big front vent blows air in and it goes out through the grill on top.
the small one is a blower ( not a sucker lol) too. the air goes out through the grill on the rear side.

hey promy,
nope buddy, it wont work. the focal lenght has to be at least the displays diagonal otherwise you'll see just a small secor of ur image. that means 7" = 17,78 cm. that's the shortest u can go. the bigger the diameter the better due to better light performance.
i dunno a shop in belgium. a swiss shop is selling proper lenses. have a look at www.gadaffy.ch.vu
maybe that'll be of any help for u.
cya.
i eat flowers,
how is the Multi Purpose XGA Box working for you since you posted about it last??? have you found it to improve the crapy format that a dvd player has? can you convert to 800 x 600 for a better pitcher?
thanks

hey lesko,
i've managed this problem w the dvd-player. since most of the movies are in 16:9 format and the lilliput has a widesreen format i've selected the wide-screen mode on the dvd-player's menu.
so i got full screen w/o black bars on top and bottom and the there's no distortion.
frankly, on live 4:3 broadcasting there's no chance. on the other hand if 16:9 movies are sent you got the right picter w black bars.
in case you have a satellite card in your pc/htpc a proper software solve this problem.
hope that helps abit.

i don't think that radio shack has this one . you need a 40core flat flex cable w 0.5mm pitch. the lenghth depends on your planned setup. i got mine at www.farnell.de. maybe www.newarkinone.com has them. give em a call.
another source in the u.s. is www.digikey.com, find idt in this thread i answered your question. http://diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=388230#post388230

Today I downloaded a PDF guide with the step by step to disassemble the Lilliput but it's in German !!! I tried to traslate it to spanish (my native) but I have some missed words.
I supose you know wich is the guide I'm talking about.
Could you please traslate it to english ?
Thank you very much.

If you follow that guide it is fine apart from the bit telling you to fold the red ribbon flat, don't do that because it could break, you should be able to do it by just looking at the pics.
how about the tft monitor they sell on that german site?
It *looks* pretty good and hurray they even say it's ideak to strip because its pretty sturdy.
AND it has composite and vga input (which is a must for me)
Is a lilliput so much harder to strip?
After my exams I'm going to order one of these two tft's but I don't know which one 🙁
I tend to lean to the german-site-one because a) I know where to order them and b) they say its really easy to strip (easier than the lilliput)
But... what are the drawbacks? 😕
I have seen two types of lcd's in real-life: the 3 color-types which have red-green and blue in separate pixels and the type like pc monitors, which seem to be able to reproduce all colors in each pixel (I think from what I've seen, both monitors have more or less the same specs like inputs and resolution)

@ declined,
yeah, it is easy to strip. here is a how-to. http://www.exclusiv-online.com/shop/bilder_artikel/tft2/demontage/TFT2-Book.exe
okay, it's in german but it's with picters and no need to translate.
the lcd is the same hitachi built-in in the lilliput. the advantage of this is the extended osd which enables a 4:3 ratio switching. the manufacturer is phoenixdigital ( www.phoenixdigital.com).
i think they made an oem product for exclusive-online.com, cause phoenix doesn't offer it regularly.
so, there will be no drawbacks. imho it's worth cause you don't need an extra tv-box.
btw, i don't now any monitor neither tft nor crt which displays all three colors in one dot. e.g. for each dot you need 3 color informations . a dot is composed of three pixels. many sellers are lyers. they sell the lilliput with this specs: Reso 2400x480. the native reso is 800x480 coz you have to divide the first no by three ( three colors!).

hi gstuder,
yeah, i know what u're talkin about. but, please, i don't wanna make a translation. it's sooo time consuming. sorry.
but, as bobharry said, never lay that little brown ribbon-cable as flat as he showed nor let the little pcb dangling around. this f* cable is very, very sensitive and breaks easily.
