Cut your own records!

Which is the advantage, if any?
My record player has lasted 40 years & tens of thousands of plays with no maintenance. BIC940 Shure M97EraIV The records have many fewer skips than the CD's.
No CD DVD player or tape recorder has lasted more than 10 years. I can't even get media for the tape recorders. The PC's (audacity) crater every 8-10 years and new ones aren't compatible with old software. The newest PC doesn't even have a line level input. USB mikes are ****.
As for high quality source material my Sohmer & Steinway pianos are first class and my KSM27 mikes are 2nd class. The Oscar Schmidt Autoharp is authentic. As for market demand for what I play, a different story. My audience is as high as 12 sometimes. Got a nice piece of fan mail from the summer audience two weeks ago.

I won't download or listen to MP3. The cassette tape of the 21st century. My hearing rolls off at 14 khz and MP3 sounds weak to me.
Can't say this disc recorder is high fidelity. Vendor makes no such claims. But many LP's were. Wicked Cool records are making superb pop LP's & 45's now. No crackle or pop! Mastering & production by ?? EMI versions of the Beatle albums have much less crackle & pop than the original Capitols, also. Another format I'll buy is CD, but mastering goals vary from "blast out the car in next lane", to occasional real fidelity.
