My centre speaker (Paradigm C290) is currently sitting in front of my TV (see pic). This works fine providing that I am sitting a few metres away from the TV. My wife hasn't been too happy with the situation, but has lived with it for a while. With our first baby on the way, she is concerned that it won't be able to see the TV if he/she was sitting on the floor in front of it.
I thought about wall mounting the TV, but it would sit too high for comfort. The other alternative is to build a custom stand or wall mount the centre speaker. My preference at this stage would be to build a custom stand from hardwood.. something heavy and very solid, with a large base and either 1 or 2 90x90mm posts attached to a 20 degree angle mounting piece at the top. I would place this behind the TV and cabinet. It would need to be close to 1800mm high.. I haven't come across any designs that high. What would I need to think about before building it?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Cut off the legs of the commode and hide the wires at the same time (sorry, my wife's suggestion!). E
those wires would bother the hell out of me.
anyways you could get a floor mount for the TV which is a bit higher then it currently is, and put it behind the entertainment unit.
something like this
Bell'o Optional Metal Flat Panel LCD/Plasma Floor Stand Mount in Black - PP59B

You can make a box around the speaker, and let the TV sit on top of it.

Agreed. And dont mess that cabinet up. AND LEAVE THE WIRES ALONE!

thats cool too.
I agree that the wires will need to be cleaned up too. They would be a great toy for a crawling bub.
I don't want to lift the TV any higher as I would need to have physio every week to correct my neck. The TV needs to come down in height and the centre speaker needs to move up or down. I wonder if I took the doors from the TV cabinet off and made some room inside the cabinet. Would this have any major impacts on SQ?
