Current feedback high speed headphone amp with diamond output buffer

I have have done some new simulations comparing the two
buffer types, but I think it is time to follow Pavels suggestion
and start a new thread since we have detoured from the
oriiginal topic. You will see a new thread appear soon.

Moderators: Maybe you should try to split away some of the previous
discussion to the new thread?

Remember Peranders most well designed amplifiers have an LPF of 1k/220pf on the input. Excessive amplifier bandwidth is asking for trouble and possible transducer/tweeter destruction. The amplifier is an AUDIO amplifier, not an RF amplifier !!

Yes Hugh you are correct as the interface intermodulation distortion for a compound emitter follower is least. A Wireless World article (by Otala, I think) looked at all configurations and found the compound EF or triple is best. Self supports this view.

Sounds like we mean the same thing. Below is a picture from
Slones book with his "definition" of CFP. In this case a push pull
CFP output stage. Does this agree with your "definition" of CFP?
If so, I asume we are talking about resistors R1 and R2?
Don't bother about resistor values here, I only follow the topology.
I used more than 100 Ohms, to get the same current as I had
in the CCSs in the first stage (good or bad, I don't know).

........I should probably, for a start, revert back to
simulations with ideal BJT models first and see what difference
the two topologies give in that case, and then go back to real
BJT models, and maybe use other output devices.

I use this OPS configuration in my headphone amp design and it works extremely well in that app.
