Crest CA4 Power Amp (going into channel protect when turning up volumes separately)

Wg_ski

I missed out on a curve tracer a while back. A Telequipment one. The guy serviced it and it was working good £50. 😏
I don’t think you can beat a test on one of them. Be like being in the Amp. Kind of.
Yea they were just rough tests on a mk-328.

One thing to try is heat up the transistors aswell. The hFE goes up.
Better tested at operating temp. That’s what they’ll be seeing for hours on end.
Some are replacements along the way so I doubt they’re matching much. Might be a little bit.

Update.
Took the boards ,heat sinks apart and cleaned off all the old grease. I put them all back on ,dry ,in the same place. So I don’t change anything.
I’ve got some replacements coming for any that are out of range or bad.
I managed to get some originals.😊
It’s gonna be one amp at a time ,one channel at a time.
A capacitor in my multimeter burned up when I changed the battery ,so I’m using an analog one now. A TMK MODEL 500.
The results from testing all the Transistors on the output boards.
With an MK-328. The negative side seems to have been affected by something as they’re mostly low readings. One is very high. Even the MJF127’s are low.
Shame I don’t have a curve tracer ,I could have this singing like a Bird. 🎵🐤
